Low oil pressure

AHH! Need some help, guys....
I just got LewTuned (which I highly recommend, by the way)
I recently changed my oil. Nothing different from what I normally do, Mobil 1 0w-30, and a K&N wrench-off oil filter.
But, I've been getting a low oil pressure warning when I idle for more than a minute or two. Never when in motion, but at idle.
There's no low oil level warning and the dipstick shows a good level (thanks to no more DOD)

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I wouldn't drive it until it is figured out. Could be the sending unit I would think, or something internal like the oil pump . Do you still have the filter(last chance if that's what it is called?) underneath the sending unit? I would put a mechanical gauge on it to verify. Is it making any noise?

No idea on the last chance filter, but it's an '05.
and it's not making any more noise than the usual high-mileage LS4 quiet lifter tick-type-thing.....

This is the filter I am talking about, I have read some post saying these become clogged or don't flow as well after high mileage. Someone else should post who knows more about it. I have one on order that I have not received yet. Replacement looks easy, but who knows as nothing seems easy with these cars. This filter is directly under the oil pressure sending unit on top of the motor next to the throttle body, at least it is on my 08. Hope somebody chimes in. Good luck. Post back your findings to this problem you are having.

I picked up a new AC Delco oil pressure sending unit on eBay as well. With the Lisle socket it was about 41 dollars out the door. I may have been able to get away without the correct socket, but wasn't going to take that chance and break something. Do a search on the subject also , there are a few posts on it.. Good luck.

New GM AC Delco Oil Pressure Sensor Switch GM 12616646 D1846A | eBay

BAM! That's the one! I grabbed one from my dealer and got it installed. I'm friends with some of the mechanics, so I got to borrow that weird fucking socket that these use, so I saved money there... Best part is, it worked! No more low oil pressure warning or P0521 code :D

Now, the next project is to Flow-Tie the Arrowhead, a-la Z/28....

rottonj 09-09-2015 06:55 PM

Good job. Did the filter have any crap in it?

superglide9375 09-09-2015 07:19 PM

Nice pull my man on last chance

05GXPjake 09-11-2015 06:12 PM

I didn't pull the last chance filter, seeing as I don't think the 05s even have them (I didn't see where it would be anyway...) but the oil pressure sensor switch was gunky to say the least. It's been a few days with no issues, so I think it's time to get Lew my WOT data log.... muhahah

P0521 Chevrolet Caprice 2009

Hello i have a check engine light on my dashboard, i scanned it and it gave me the code P0521. The oil was old so i changed the oil and filter and erased the codes, but then the check engine popped out and the same code appeared.
Can someone help me please?
The car is Chevrolet Caprice 2009
If it's the oil pressure sensor please tell me where it would be located.
