2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP DOD removal
Hey all,
I've been doing a lot of research but I can't quite seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm driving a 2005 pontiac grand prix GXP and it's my daily driver.
1)I have a couple of dead lifters that are making my car sound like crap. I wanted to replace them with non-dod lifters. I already have the dod tuned out of the car, and am just wondering what it would take to get the wacky lifters out.
2) I'd like to eventually do a complete dod removal/ cam swap just to get the crap out of the car, but I'm not exactly sure what it would take to do it. Most of the threads I have seen are for track cars, and builds running nitrous etc., and like I said, I'm just using it as a daily driver. It's a fun car I like it a lot. Not looking for crazy hp increases, just something to make the car sound a little nicer and run a little better. Wouldn't mind spending extra to do it right.
Cheers!

Like all LS engines, the cylinder heads have to be removed to do the AFM delete. It's a good idea to do it the same time you decide to upgrade your cam, and valve train.

LS7 lifters are the OEM replacement. You can use a different oil pump, I am. If you're doing a DoD delete I highly suggest you get rid of every DoD part, including the cam. If you do a search for DoD delete while keeping stock cam you'll find it causes issues. I didn't research when I did mine and deleted everything but the cam and got misfires while driving it afterwards and about 100 miles later my block seized up. That's just my .02 though.

First off, I'm not trying to argue, I know sometimes thread discussions can come across that way.
So what caused your miss after a 100 or so miles?
Are the LS4's different from the other engines with DOD?
I have heard of some engines (non ls4) not needed the cam changed and others that have dead misses on the DOD cylinders, and others somewhere in between.
How did you get a needle bearing in there?
