Default 2009 Impala SS Engine Replace Through the Top

Hey guys! I know they normally go out through the bottom but do not have a lift. I was wondering if there are any tips to bringing it out through the top. I know I have heard of it being done and it will be more difficult however this is what I have to do. Thank you in advance!

Spawne removed his from the top, send him a message. His car is long gone and has moved on but will most likely reply. This is a good read for any new members.

If using a engine hoist you can still go through the bottom. Your call though. Regardless just lift enough to pull the balancer off and take off the ac compressor and take off the ps pump and lines then you can lift the motor out the top

This isn't an LS4 car, but I have used the same method for the FWD GM cars. Lower the car onto the legs of the cherry picker, remove all the bolts, hoses and harness connections, then use the cherry picker ram to lift the body up while leaving the drivetrain and suspension on the legs of the cherry picker.

Install jack stands, disconnect the cherry picker, and pull the drivetrain out from under the car. I haven't had a lift for over a decade and have used this method probabl 30-40 times since then.
