Default 3rd CV Axle failed In 2 months.

I bought my SS back In May this year. About a month after owning It I started hearing a pop when switching from drive to reverse and that turned Into clicking when turning. Replaced the CV axle on the drivers side 2 months ago with a Advance auto one. About 10 miles later I was backing up and heard a pop from the same wheel and about a month later started clicking when turning. So last week I replaced both side axles and today I was backing out from McDonalds and heard the pop. It came from the drivers wheel again. But this time when I replaced both axles I used factory OEM GM axles. They were used from a wrecked SS and claimed to have only 20,000 miles. The passenger side Is quiet so far but I also didn't replace that side as the old axle was rusted to the hub and the shop had to do It along with a new wheel bearing. I was watching the guy the whole time and when he put the big nut on he Impacted It on for like 30 seconds. When I did the drivers side I only torqued It to 155lb-ft because that's where my torque wrench maxes out at. I've put the last 2 on and they keep failing. Am I not torquing that big nut enough? I do drive this car really hard but still It should not be going through axles this fast. I also am very careful to not to hit potholes. Thanks.

FWIW I hammer my axle nuts down with an impact too.

Have you checked your motor mounts? Sloppy mounts could allow excessive engine and transmission movement and wear out the joints faster.

Sorry to hear about your trouble...

I'm confused as to why the axle nut has to be impacted on for 30 seconds... once it's torqued down to spec, I see no advantage to making it go another 1/8 of a turn or whatever it is you might get. Makes zero sense.

The ones from advance auto only have 3 bellows on the end which are to short for the ls4 platform and will fail, everyone else has updated their parts catalog accordingly to not mix the 3800 and longer ls4 shaft up.
