Grand Prix gxp cut out questions

Hey, I have a 2006 Grand Prix gxp with a 5.3 ls4 & I’m thinking about doing an electronic cutout. I am just not sure where I should put it & if I should get rid of the resonator. So I need best location & if I should delete the res or keep it. Also if anyone has a recommend kit I should get for the cutout please feel free to let me know. Thank you.

The idea of a cutout is to allow the user to keep a stock exhaust system while at the same time deleting it in a manner of speaking. In this way, it should be installed as close to the down pipe as possible(ahead of the Cat). This would be more or less the text book position.

If however you're installing it for sound alone, and not as a supporting mod for other power adder upgrades... then I'd say install it towards the end of the exhaust system right where the two mufflers meet at the base of the Y pipe. Doing so will allow you to not only control the tone of the exhaust as you can when the cutout is installed in the traditional location, but as well you will benefit from the sound coming from the muffler area where sound is supposed to come from. If you do this you won't have to delete your resonator either.

Only thing I'm not 100% positive of is the width of that area where the Y meets an if it's different then the down down pipe size.... I've never cared to look that up so I just suggest you do as you have to know the size of the pipe in order to buy the correct sized cutout.... without using adapters I suppose if for example...

Oh and also the resonator is there for a reason... I wouldnt remove it unless you have AFM disabled or mechanically deleted, or be prepared to be "helicoptering" around in your ride.
