I was about to spend $65 on a pair of H11 Piaa bulbs, too. I'm gonna wait, now. And he got McCulloch's, which are a decent brand. (MOST) Kits on eBay are crap and not worth the $200-250 sticker. IF these hold up, it's a steal. I was looking at a kit from www.XenonDepot.com ewith Philips ballasts/bulbs for $430. I know what i'm asking for for Xmas! (Paul, i gave u a link for the Piaas on eBay over at ClubGP.) |
Also! Do you notice any problems when the DRL's are on? I know ours are different than previous gen Imps/MC's in that our DRL is the low beam, while the others are low-power high beams. I wonder if our low-beams are are activated at a different power level for DRL's which would cause problems with the power needed to operate the HIDs? |
Wow almost $300? Is there any reason to get them other than the light looks white??? |

Looks great man, HIDs are the shit :) |
Yeah how did you do that? I was trying to think of a way to do that myself. |
|
yeah yeah |
SO, all you do is turn off the DRLs by twisting the dial and them turning on your fogs? I do that too, but i wouldn't say that my turnsignals are my daytime running lights. |
if i turn on my car and its light outside, the only thing that turns on are those yellow bulbs |
So are you going to tell us how you did it or am I going have to destroy the electrical system in my car? |

Originally Posted by kissmyss03 290.00 im gonna get some fog lights now too i think Anyway, I think the price is a bit high at $290... Those are exactly what I have 1/2 a kit of in my motorcycle (split a full kit with a friend)... The group buy through the Blackbird forum was about a year ago, but I've talked to this guy since, and set up another group buy (or rather, self buy) since then... Go here, and read the 4th post down... That's all the info on these, except I think the prices have gone up either $5 or $10 since then (to $190 or $195 for a set of 2)... http://www.cbr1100xxforums.org/forum...c.php?p=275923 The guy's e-mail address is a guy who works at the southeast asia distributor for the McCulloch HID systems, and he will sell direct to you if you e-mail him, at close to the prices listed on that thread I posted... I call it a "self buy" because there are no real "group buys" with this guy, because he sells at that price all the time (~$190 per set)... The guy is "hidseller" on ebay, and I know of probably a couple hundred sets purchased from him with no issues (or failures, to this point)... I've got a little over 20,000 miles on the HID in my bike, which is 20k miles on the HID itself, because the light is always on any time the ignition is on, on the bike... The "group buys" you see around internet forums are actually a person who is acting as the middle man and tech support, and making whatever they want per set and having them drop shipped directly from SE Asia from this guy, but making $100 or whatever per set in the process... Andy (the guy you'll be e-mailing) tried to get me to do this, but I elected to not have any money go through me, because they are shipped in as "warranty replacements" because HID kits without projectors (meaning, drop-in kits) aren't legal to import into the US any more, and making them "warranty replacements" means no duty and allows them to come into the US without being stopped, because they aren't super-legal... I figured the little bit of money on top of my engineer's salary wasn't enough for me to risk getting pinched being the "dump american" in the middle of this, acting as a "distributor" for something technically illegal to import and not claiming it on taxes... FWIW, they're only illegal because morons were putting the bulbs in HORRIBLE stock housings (non-multi-flector)from the 80's and blinding oncoming traffic... Anyway, that's the scoop on the McCulloch HID systems you see on the Internet... Mike |
