Default F.A.S.T. Manifolds on the LS4?

Since The LS4 has LS6 heads (243 casting - same as the 02-04 Z06), shouldn't the FAST or typhoon manifolds for the LS1/LS6 fit right on there? Is there someting im not taking into consideration that I should be?

Thumbs up

Yeah the oil pressure sender is the problem but. . . . . . i'm working on a way to relocate the sender and get a LS1 manifold to fit. If the LS1 will fit the F.A.S.T. "should" fit. Unless it is way bigger in the throat area. Now if i could only find someone willing to let me borrow their F.A.S.T. manifold i could make it work ! !

you do not need a bigger manifold/tb setup. you need a bigger cam.

the heads flow more cfm then the cam will allow {if you can follow that}
out run the manifold via cam swap, then you could use the ls6/fast manifold. as of right now. you're good.

Yeah that is true but. . . . If your going to mod the motor to get the manifold to actually fit, splicing in a longer wire and relocating some tubing is really not a problem. A cam would probably really wake this engine up as well. I wonder how it would effect the motor if you slapped a cam in for a LS2. The cam wouldn't have the split profiles (for the DOD cylinders) , but still it would generate more lift across all cylinders. I think the only reason the lift is higher for the Non deactivated cylinders is so the engine makes enough power to support itself/operate effectively while in 4cyl mode.

I would think that the 4/4 split cam is because the DoD lifters are probably different heights when pumped up than the regular lifters. Make the DoD lifter as compact as possible, find that limit is taller than the standard LSx lifter and you can do one of two things. Invest in a new regular lifter that is taller or grind the cam differently. I know which one I would choose, cam grind change is a lot cheaper than spec'ing out new lifters for a relatively limited production engine.

I had an 06 cobalt SS/SC fully loaded, the recaro's have a meshlike cloth in the middle, not a suede. It definitely dont have the lsd either because its part of a package. Probably better off without it, at low speeds in turns it was a pain in the ***. The recaro seats are definitely more comfortable though.

Hey guys some news on the intake swap. I'm getting my *** kicked ! LOL There are a bunch of small areas that need to be clearanced on the LS1 intake to get it to fit. The LS4's valley cover has a bunch oil passages and bosses for bolts that are interfering EVERYWHERE ! The connector for the dod is also proving to be a pain in the *** as well. I cut the connector and am chipping away at the plastic from hell that it is made of. There will have to be a lot of modding to do to get this intake to work. It's not to difficult but it is very very time consuming. I'm gonna have to bolt my accesories back on the front of the motor to see if the brake booster fitting and map sensor will clear the PS pump and reservoir. Hang in there i'm still working on it .

edit to add: If you eliminate the dod and use a flat valley cover it would be a billion times easier.

So, with changing the cam (and losing the DoD anyway) what kind of benefit (if any) are you really going to see with swapping out the intake? Is it really that much less restrictive?

You could have just drilled and tapped all the DOD oil ports and put pipe plugs in them and ran a non DOD valley cover off a LS2.
