Default Need a push in the right direction

I just got my K&N CAI system installed and I love it. Now that its starting to snow here in alaska I need to do the last of my mods before the winter or find a heated garage somewhere on Base. I was looking on Ebay and found a Diablosport tuner for around 250 bucks give or take. I was thinking about getting that or possible getting the HP Tuner but scared to buy it cause it looks complicated. What would be your guys next move after installing a CAI? Thanks for the help again!

Also im looking to install my double din touch screen dvd/cd player in my monte and I was told that I need some gay expensive *** Wiring Harness. Been having trouble finding one so asking here to see if anyone can list where they got theres and those details, Thanks again!

Edit* Forgot to ask about this, This gay city im in only offers 90 octane in all the gas stations i have been to so far, If i use a 91 octane tune will that be a bad thing or good thing. IE how will it affect the cars performance, and will it hurt my engine. Thanks

I would go ahead and do exhaust second, as far as tuning, personally I would go with HP instead of Diablo if I had it to do over again.

I second doing the exhaust next, but if that's not in the cards, go with the tune(r).

The Diablo tune is a good tune for the money, but limited in that they may never offer tranny support, which significantly limits getting the power down to the wheels. I agree that HPT may be complicated to start, but in the end is a much better product overall. I'm with 06SS in that if i had to do it over, i'd have waited til i had a laptop and then bought HPtuners.

Regarding the 90 octane...Diablo offers a 91 octane tune that should be OK with it, but you may need to adjust the spark timing or something like that (i don't know specifically what you'd need to alter...but that sounds about right, )

About the new radio wiring issue, you need something like this (if not that exact one):

Yeah, it's a PITA and somewhat expensive, but if you want to retain the doorchimes and/or OnStar (if applicable), you'll need it. If you don't care about that stuff, you can just wire it straight up with an aftermarket $20 harness.

We've got a lot of 2006+ Audio install info at NAIOA that should apply to the Monte as well:

You guys have 90 octane up there because of the altitude or pressure or something.

Just buy a 3" down pipe (DP) and have it installed at the same time. You can get one with a high flow cat if you want, but the gains come from the DP itself not the cat. You can have your exhaust shop make you one or you can order a Hogans DP, Wbody store DP, etc.

Ok, just got my local muffler shop to install me a custom exhaust system. Sounds bad ***, they pretty much cut off all the old **** and put in all new mandrel bent pipe left out the RES and installed 2 Highflow Vortec Mufflers. So I guess now ill have to get me either a Diablosport tuner or a HPTuner if i can figure out how to use it. Ill grab my digital cam and see if i can get you guys a video, the Tips I picked out make it look sweet.

A vid sounds nice!

Definitely go with HPT, it pays huge dividends to be able to mod the TCM right now.
