With MINIMAL highway throughout the week, I manage only about 11.5 or so in the winter and 13 in the summer. Will be going on a decent road trip this weekend and will report back on how I do, mpg-wise, on all-highway. I've got the K&N and MF catback, and am no longer tuned. My city driving is REALLY city driving, going no futher than 1/8mi before having to stop again, and I'm by no means light on the throttle.
Generally, I don't exceed 180-190mpt (miles per tank)
How does this help you with your highway trip, though?

Last year we took the Impala SS to Florida from Pittsburgh, PA. My average speed was 76 mph and my average fuel mileage was 27 mpg. I ran only Sunoco or Exxon premium down and back. Some places in FL I hit over 100 mph running with a Mustang GT, BMW M3, and a Porsche.

I am going to ohio (from illinois) for a weeks vacation with the old lady and was trying to get a ballpark figure as to how much i should budget for gas.

In the cold *** weather we had all winter here, about high teens low 20s mixed driving. 23-24 all highway. The gas is shittier in winter due the additives and the colder temps dont help. 280-290 per tank

have neither where i live.
I run shell v power all the time. I usually run amoco (BP) in my truck and cars but noticed this car got horrible gas mileage with that gas.

D'OH! don't use shell gas!!!
shell causes all kinds of KR issues!! I know - I used to use shell too... till I got my predator and did some logging and noticed a **** load of KR...
after switching to Mobil 93, after a tank or so it was virtually all gone!
you want to use mobil, exxon, sunoco, amoco or BP....
oh, and I get 20.5 mpg all times of the year... even with winter gas.. with 50/50 city/highway driving...

My mpg is at 16.5 but thats going 25-45 on curvy roads with a lot of hills.
As far as hway Just did a trip last week Phom Phila., PA to Connecticut. Got 400 miles on one tank going 70-75. with cruise control on all the way so that gives me about 23.5 mpg

16-17 city
24-26 highway
The lower numbers for highway are under 65mph. Anything over 70mph, you will only see about 24
City numbers are about dead on for stop and go, along with a mix of hitting once and awhile.

KR or Spark Knock is
Straight from Wikipedia
Knocking (also called detonation or spark knock, pinking in UK English or pinging in US English) in a spark-ignition internal combustion engines occurs when combustion of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder starts off correctly in response to ignition by the spark plug, but one or more pockets of air/fuel mixture explode outside the envelope of the normal combustion front. The fuel-air charge is meant to be ignited by the spark plug only, and at a precise time in the piston's stroke cycle. When spark knock occurs, two or more combustion fronts will exist and their collisions produce a sudden rise in cylinder pressure, and a shock-wave which will reverberate around the cylinder[1]. The peak of the combustion process no longer occurs at the optimum moment for the four-stroke cycle. The shock wave creates the characteristic metallic "pinging" sound, and cylinder pressure increases catastrophically. Spark knock can range from inconsequential to completely destructive.

Did you ever do any logging with gas other than premium? 91? 89? 87?
Not that I want you to put anything other than 93 in your pretty blue Monte, cuz I don't.

Running 92 Octane, I get an average of 21 on the highway (Long drive to work) And abut 14 in the city. On a note to cruise control, how do I make mine work? I click the button on the left of the steering wheel (Set) and hit the + button, and nothing happens. What else do I need to hit?

cold weather should help gas miledge and power as well. the air is more dense there for your getting a higher volume of air into your engine for the same area. hot air results in less power and miledge

I get between 400 and 450 miles per tank with DOD going non stop for 400 miles.
Edit That was also on 91-93 octane depending on where i was and i tailed some semi's for 50/60 miles at at time.
Anyone who dosn't beleive following a semi dosn't save you mileage is dead wrong. You can clearly see the results on long trips. Even the instant fuel economy shows the diffrence when following behind a semi. You don't have to be extremly close just 2 or so car links away. Hardest part following a semi is finding one using cruise control so you can match there speed for long distances
