Any excuses they can find to f*ck us, right?

$60 to fill up, three times a week is going to get old really fast.

On the way back I slowed it down alittle (about 5mph less) and got 27mpg. Now driving around central FL/ Orlando area (most roads have 40-45mph speed limit, but lights and traffic) I see around 21-25mpg. I know if i slowed down alittle and didnt do as many quick accelerations I could get better.... Also I am bone stock down to the paper air filter. I'll be switching to sythetic in the engine soon and should see a gain there and shortly after that a K&N intake. At the tranny service I will be switching to synthetic there as well (along with adding a trans cooler). There is a Magnaflow exhaust in the future but I am unsufe of when ther finances will allow that. With all that and slowing down to 60-63 on the highway I am hoping to see 35mpg there.
i wouldn't complain about your pay now, i don't know what you rank is, you will soon find out what its like in the civilian world you don't get off as much (4 day passes, holidays etc, etc. you have to beg to get time off, unless u have a gov. jobs

Unless you spend all your time driving downhill, then that might explain it. LOL
you will not get good gas mileage with your combo of mods, you can't short cut mods and expect gas mileage, borla, magnaflow, and all the other tune these for performance and gas mileage as well. i had a 2000 gmc extended cab with borla exhuast, fipk air intake, hypertech, and shorty headers, i would get 22 mpg highway and 15 in town, and the damn thing would run a 15.2@92 not as fast the ls4 not bad for what it is. it was hard for me to keep my foot out of it to, but when i did it would do well.

I thought the same thing 500 dollars worth of speeding tickets ago. Now I just crank up the music and cruise.

(Unless I can find a fast moving sports car to tag along behind)

I know it's OT but for anyone that lives in the seattle area (snohomish, king, pierce counties) should look up Jenny P Mucklestone if you get a ticket. She works magic and gets tickets dismissed all the time. $350 bucks flat rate, she makes it go away you don't even need to go to court.

Finally got a good amount of highway driving in. Was down at our place at the beach over the weekend. 160 miles one way. Mostly highway and a little bit of back hilly roads. Before I got down there and got stuck in all the beach traffic the DIC showed 24.2 mpg's. Then with the driving down there and the ride home I ended up getting 22 even for the whole trip.

The discreprepancy between reality and my Impy's DIC is over 10% (it is always optimistic.) If it showed your numbers, I would be looking at a hair under 20 MPG for the trip and about 22 for the straight highway. My '95 LT1 Caprice (when it used to be self-propelled) would do slightly better than that and I put 3.73's in it...Bigger (heavier) car, deeper rear gears, larger engine, >11 years of technology behind and it still did better than the little LS4. Oh, it has a 2800 stall too.

Yea, I usually don't take the DIC numbers too seriously since they're not spot on, although typically they're close enough for me. They were actually alot closer this time than they usually are. When I filled my tank Saturday night the DIC was reading 22 and a manual calculation gave me 21.18. I was still happy with that since I normally see 12-14 during my normal driving at home. Last summer I averaged between 19-22 through manual calculation on that same beach route. Kinda depressing knowing the Caprice got better mileage than the LS4.

I have a 93s10 that i am currently swaping the lt1/t56 package into it. The truck is a standard cab, and as for the motor: has a custom CAI, its a stock TB w/ ported intake, has AL heads, and 1 5/8 inch sanderson shorty headers. It also has 8mm MSD ignition wires, acdelco plat. plugs and as for the exhaust it is just stock from the header collector to the highflow cat, than its a flowmaster 40series orig. muffler to split rear dual outlet pipes. Also, the tranny has a b&m short shifter and myrear is a 8.5 rear from a 02 s10 blazer w/ 3.42 gears and 26 inch tall tires.

And FYI, i have a custom wiring harness for this swap so this harness is meant for a lt1/t56 powered s10 w/3.42 gears.

Heres my question, what type of mpgs would you expect me to get?

dic logs 32 mpg hwy on reg gas, this is on the way to work, never exceeding 55 mph, using cruise most of the way. no jackrabbit starts and considerable glides into stop signs.

So what is your final averages? I have been interested in knowing what an LS4 is capable with a steady foot. A Friend of mine says he can get 19 in all city driving but i read all over the place that it gets 14 =( I get 15-16 with my A4 T/a.
