IND O'Reilly Raceway Park

anyone run there? I am working in the area for the next few months and was thinking about heading out there for their Tuesday Street Legal event one of these weeks. Was wondering if it gets real crowded or what? (not a big fan of waiting 40 minutes between runs and getting only two or three runs in a night).

If it is bad, I am willing to drive an hour or so in any direction if I can get a relatively empty track.

Thanks and such.

I used to run there back in the 'day.. Its like 4 blocks from my house so its quite convenient. The 'Good Guys' are in town this weekend ;-)

Anyhow, Tuesday nights blow goats out at ORP (formerly IRP) in my opinion. They dont treat the track with any traction compound and its full of ricers ripping off 19 second passes in their rust-mobiles. Pick either a weekend event (they treat track) or goto Muncie, its a much better prepared track. The facilities are not as nice as ORP but they treat the track and its where all the fast 'street' cars go. Its not as close to me as ORP is but if my toy was together I'd be taking it to Muncie for anything past a shakedown run (if I wanted serious timeslips).

ORP used to be cool when it was IRP, but then they sold the track like 5-7 years ago and the VHT went away and so did all the really FAST cars.

They run a slick tire night too now on Thursdays ?(not sure exact day) so perhaps thats a better choice than the Tuesday night debacle.

Oh and I almost forgot, as far as crowded, depends, some nights its wall to wall ricers, some nights you can get 10 runs in.. It depends alot on weather...

Thanks man! Maybe a run to Muncie one of these Wednesdays is in order! Last time I had the chance to hit a track, temp was in the 90's and I believe they coated the track with Teflon, spun the first 1/8th mile and ended up with a 15.4xx (IIRC) and about 98 MPH. Not exactly a steller visit.

We're hosting an event at Muncie in July.
