456 gears

would a 456 gear be to low for my car?i dont do a lot of driving in it love to go to the track

I think with your mods and the 150 shot you would run out of gear on a 26inch tire. On a 28inch tire you might be close but I would say go with 4.10s if you want a track only gear.

4.56 is alot of gear for a Auto, you will for sure have traction issues and might run out of gear in OD in the 1/4

I went with 4.10 's and love them

26" Tire would max out 3rd @ 107mph, OD @ 153mph
28" Tire would max out 3rd @ 115mph, OD @ 164mph

Both calculated with 6300rpm rev limit set.

I would stick with the 3.73s and not bother entering into OD (reworked trans needed for WOT OD shift) and then utilize maxing out 3rd at 131mph w/ 26" and 141mph w/ 28".

thanks i have a 27/11.50 hoosier quick time pro on it now,and im going threw the 8th in second gear now at 6200

jarretthise 11-10-2008 10:02 PM

i would say 391 or 410 would be plenty of gearing man...

ZONES89RS 11-10-2008 10:19 PM

4.10 is the deepest i would go with what you have, 3.73 is the shit on the street and occasional track use.

darrell hoagland 11-10-2008 10:53 PM

i went to the the track the other night, and my best was 7.78 in the 8th with no spray.but the car is not tuned yet, i thought it should have been faster

buzz12586 11-10-2008 11:09 PM

What cam do you have? Also what MPH were you trapping in the 1/8th?

darrell hoagland 11-10-2008 11:28 PM

That's what I used :) Such a great calc!

darrell hoagland 11-11-2008 06:02 PM

i guess i will buy a set of 4:10

96autoformula 11-11-2008 06:29 PM

Yea, +2 on the tune idea. And 4.56's would make first gear basically non existent with that stall too. 4.10 would be my high number in that equation.

Before and after the tune is night and day. With all that work, it is an absolute must.
