Valve covers Did anyone have any issues with the Canton valve covers and Pro-Mag 1.6rr's? clearance issues? |
Pretty sure they don't fit. |
I have heard you need to grind out that notch for the alternator a little to get them to fit with those rockers. |
I had to do some very slight grinding on the inside of the passenger cover to clear the first rocker. We're talking about 1/16" maybe. Other than that, no issues at all. Did you get the LT1-specific ones with the alternator notch or the SBC ones? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2211/...53a9c1d9_b.jpg |
Kyle I'm ordering the LT1-specific ones I wanted to put a breather on both sides but I think that may cause a vacum problem if I do  so I may not do that. PS: loved your car in GMHT cool!:hail: You need to come to White Sands and make mine that pretty. |
A little work with a hammer took care of mine. The affected area down behind the alt, you can't even see it. No clearance issues at all with the alt. The rubber VC gaskets didn't seal very well though, I ended up using cork ones instead. They held their shape and stayed put when I installed the covers on both sides. I used a breather, but it was sealed so that it vented to a 1/2" hose, which I plugged into the TB. That should prevent issues with "unmetered air" while preserving the vacuum. |
That's just it I don't want to run a line to the TB I removed the vac line from my current V-covers, sealed off the TB and ran a Moroso breather in the covers so far. |
