trap speed and hp?

What would you expect a stalled auto LT1 trapping 100mph to dyno?

280?
270?
260?

I'm just curious as I dynod only 231 stock and trapped 95 and now I trap 100mph and I am surprised it trapped that high at all.

Try this calculator. http://www.wallaceracing.com/et-correction.php . There's a bunch more in the stickie on the Drag Racing page.

Yeah, it's saying 295 based off mph. That's impossible.
I didn't gain 65hp from intake, tune, cutout, gears, STALL

DADDY&GIRL93TA 12-31-2008 04:24 PM

270 275 guessing 280 at the rear wheels

Stalled autos do not follow the normal hp/ET/trap/dyno/etc formulas as manuals. Dont worry about what it puts down (or even what it traps, to a point). The ET is what is really important, and like you noticed gears and a stall help a LOT, even though they wont help on a dyno or change your trap too much.

I agree that you're def not putting down almost 300 with a bolt on stalled auto LT1 :P

I've never heard of using "trap speed " on a dyno, but rpm will affect your wheel speed. Revving to 5600 rpm on a pull will have a slower speed than if it was revved to 6000 rpm but the hp and tq could remain the same.

what does the rest of the slip look like?

This was my fastest ET, but I trapped 100 hotlapping 5 minutes later (13.53@100.1)

Huh? I'm talking about when I dynod 231 whp I went to the track and trapped 95.
the General rule of thumb is 1 mph gained from every 10hp so based off of that I gained 50hp, but I don't buy that at all. I just want to know where the 5mph came from.

are u on slicks or street tires

Drag Radials

TABBED 5.3 01-01-2009 02:56 PM

what time of year did you trap 95 versus when you trapped 100. cooler air can have a big effect on how these cars run. what brand stall are you using?

LSWHO 01-01-2009 03:24 PM

With the same mods I currently have in 80 degree weather I was still trapping 98.7 so at most I'd have gained 1 mph from that first stock run.

It's a performabuilt 3200 stall. Seems to be pretty tight.

I trapped 105 untuned with longtubes, ory and flowmaster on stock converter. It put down 271HP and 302TQ with a borla muffler being the only change.
