should I or shouldn't I?? I found a 00' z28 w/m6 and loaded and only problem is 106,xxx miles. I am considering trading my lt1m6 w/ only 41,xxx. LS1 is immaculate condition, and my lt1 is little rough cosmetically but mechincally a exceptionally great car. I have yet to test drive the car, which i have plans to day to do so, but im assuming the ls1 will be bad ass, but i will find out, i know what to look for in used cars. I am just playing with the idea of owning an ls1 What would you do? |

The guy who owned the vehicle before was 30 or so, which i have never met but saw every once and awhile. Always cruised the car from what i seen. |

You didn't mention what kind of car you have? Camaro? Formula? TA? Options? |
I must say when I went from LT1 to LS1 I got depressed sold the LS1 and bought another LT1. |

If you go with the LS1 Z... -You will notice the difference in power, we all know they are faster, but it will feel a little slower (difference in torque curves). -It will be easier to work on it will be a little less problematic (better design, less prone to leaks, no distributor, etc.). -106,xxx miles is really nothing to a well maintained LS1. If you stay with your LT1 formula... -41,xxx miles is very low mileage and still perfect for a cam swap. ;) -LT1 can be torque monsters, which is why they are more fun to drive and feel faster. -LT1's sound better (IMHO). -I have experienced, and have been told, that LT1 PCM's are less problematic to tune when it comes to cammed applications. -Yes it has the dreaded opti, but if you maintain your car, and check for leaks, you shouldn't have any problems for a while. My OEM opti lasted for 140k miles. I own both a '97 SS and a '99 SS, both M6's. I always have preferred driving my LT1 powered car, it feels more responsive and quicker, and sounds better. I may be biased, but I would stick with your formula and mod it if I were you. Just my long, detailed $0.02. :D |
^^In addition parts for LS based cars are twice the price as well |

Keep the LT1. Mod yours and you will have the same or even more power, sound better, and the front end will actually look like a camaro not a crystler/ or a cat fish inspired by lexus. |
Can you afford both? I have a 97Z28 and a 00Z28. Although the 00 has more mods and more top end power, the 97 is still a blast to drive around town. You will notice a difference in how the LS powered cars take off from a dead stop, rolling not too much of a difference. I think you would enjoy either way you choose. |
