MSD wires would they help much with my setup? it revs a little higher now and was wondering if this might affect it. i also have 30# injectors if that matters. the wires i have on there are all i could afford at the time. they are orielly house brand. should i just get some acdelcos and leave it or what? |
I used to run them and didn't like them. They always seemed to leak spark at the plug boot. I tried Moroso wires out and I like them a lot. I have run them on all my LT1 vehicles ever since. They are cheap too, like $60 |
I've ran the MSD Super Conductors and they worked awesome. Good wire! |
Honestly I haven't noticed any performance difference between the high end MSD wires and the cheap Duralast wires. The thicker MSD wires will probably last longer due to more insulation, and will probably be less likely to ark to anything. But if you route the wires properly, use plug wire heat insulating boots at the plug boots by the headers, you should have no problems using any wires. |
I replaced my 10 yr old Taylor wires with the MSD 8.5mm super conductor wires. I like em' alot. They have that positive "click" sound when plugging them to the sparkplugs. |
I offer MSD LT1 wires with a lifetime warranty vs defects... MSD 8.5mm Superconductors, just go to my online store. Best deal on the planet for plugs and wires. I also do the OTVC wires as well. |

No matter what wires you run, be sure and put some di-electric grease on every boot. This will aid in preventing the electrically-leaky boot issues, and make them easier to remove when the time comes. |
are these moroso wires custom made to fit LT1s ? or did u just use the uni ones ? |
I've disected these wires, you dont want Morosso. They were the worst I've ever seen. I've put MSD boots and electrodes on a few sets of wires from Morosso and Taylor and the Morosso was by far the worst of them all. |

I've seen more threads and post with your name bashing everything but your wires. I have to say it's rather funny cause if it's not your product it just plain sucks. Its reality. Its not my wire its MSD's system that makes it better. I build hundered of these sets and I know the difference. I can use any wire on the market but I choose to use what I feel is the best. Sorry if you dont like to hear it but when your spending money and your stuff falls apart your find better solutions. I have been there and done that and try to help people from making the same mistakes. SO when I see a thread I post accurate information to assist in someone making an informed decision. Its been my experience that Taylor and Morosso are inferior wires to the MSD. |
My taylors fell apart in a year as well as my stockers and some other cheap jegs wires all with fiberglass boot shields. I took the plunge and ordered the OTVC Msd ones from ccperformanceparts I hope they last and perform better then all the others i have used, i am expecting a lot out of these wires. I can say plug wires have been a nightmare for this car. I guess i will let you guys know in a year or so. hahaha |
Lifetime means lifetime, you have any issues at all let me know and I'll take care of it right quick! |
Some of the very best wires for the LTx come from the dealer ;) Ed Write will not even run any thing else and he has been doing this longer then any of us :D |
No doubt, I always advise my customer that this is not a performance mod there is no power gain unless your wires have degradation. Most guys buying wires have gone to headers and are looking for the extra heat protection the MSD silicone boot offers. Others want to the OTVC kit. And then there are those who have had their factory wires dry out and get all cracked. But with my lifetime warranty you cant really go wrong. MSD is a great performance wire and is engineered with intent. |
I have the MSDs and they tested at a very low resistance compared to others I have laying around. I think they are decent wires. With that said I may buy MSD wires again, but nothing else. My MSD opti failed in a week, still waiting for the techs to respond on my multiple e mail inquires with more than a mass e mail( going on 3 1/2 weeks). Luckily Baxter auto parts/performance parts warehouse backed it quickly and the new one has much less play in it and seems to work:nod:. With that said I will not buy MSD products as long as I can avoid it (other than wires) due to very poor warranty/customer service. |
Yea we've seen numerious failure on the LS1 coil side as well. You dont see me pushing anything but their wires :) Its unfortunate for MSD that they can't keep the quality up on all their lines :( but some of their ignition components are decent. |
I just got my MSD OTVC wires from CCperformance and they look very nice. I am impressed with them so far they look like they were assembled with care and the boots look more insulated as well. I'm pumped. Im going to ohm them out and keep track of how they do as they age. |
I have them in my Caprice and hate them. |
