Rear end gearing

Rear end gearing
I'm purchasing rear end geas for my 93 A4 formula. I want to go with some 3.73 gears, but im not sure if I need to buy them for a 2 or 3 carrier. Does anyone know the RPO codes for gears? Is there a more obvious way of telling. I have the 110 speedo (came with T-rated tire package I believe). I'm almost positive the gears are 2.73 but just wanna make sure before I purchase the new 3.73's

From what I know there were only 2 different rear differential carrier's used because there were only 4 different rear ends from the factory.
2-carrier = 2.73
3-carrier = 3.08 , 3.42 , 3.73
So to answer your question, no, it does not go to 1. A 1-carrier would be ill highway gears though.
But this is why i have a need to know, because I'm under the impression that if I have a 2-carrier and get 3.73's for a 3-carrier the gears wont work.
2-carrier = 2.73
3-carrier = 3.08 , 3.42 , 3.73

all the 110 speed rating cars came with 2.73's. my car was the same way. also if u want to be able to put it in to first. pull ur center console and there are a rubber bump stop on the gear shifter. pull that rubber piece off and there u go. hopes this helps
