Timing setup?
200 for ewp and 20-35 for cloyes chain! What worries me is why your builder recommends 20w-50? I take it he is an old school guys who has yet to grasp the much smaller oil galleries in modern engines? unless your oil galleries are ported 5w30 is the thickest oil you want to run! if you go with 20w50 with stock gallery's you will take alot of extra time to get cold oil to your valvetrain causing premature failure. And I have never heard of a stock timing set up failing due to too many rpms of too much power! I went double roller because it was 20 bucks and I will be running an ewp!

Would you classify these guys as old school with no grasp on newer engines?

Note: Cloyes does not make a double roller for a stock, '95-up, LT-1.

It doesn't make sense for 2-3 manufacturers to gear up to make such a limited application part. The OE timing set I took out of my '96 LT-1 had a cam gear that had 3 "spokes". The Cloyes gear I replaced it with, was solid. The pictures of the "heavy duty, LT-4" timing set, as shown in the GMPP catalog, show a solid cam gear. Is it a Cloyes set? Maybe......
