Oil Cooler
 

The previous owner of my car installed an aftermarket oil cooler. I don't see the point of it really, but i'm not going to remove it.

My question is, when i seafoam my car, could this possibly damage the aftermarket oil cooler?

Also - when I change the oil, will my car require more then stock?

What kind of cooler did he install? Is it a pancake-style water to oil cooler?

I don't see how seafoaming would hurt the cooler to be honest either way.

Well, you put seafoam in the oil, so - just wondering. haha.

I'm not entierly sure, It looks like a real tiny radiator mounted in the far drivers side corner (below the headlight area.) and has 2-4 (cant tell) rubber hoses going in to it.

Most people insert the Seafoam through a vacuum fitting for it to be added to the combustion chambers to clean the cylinders. Please don't put Seafoam in the oil, unless I'm missing something.

Having that cooler will add maybe 1/3 quart capacity, I'd imagine.

It wouldn't hurt anything if you did remove it. GM did away with them in the 95 and up. As far as seafoam goes, I personally think this stuff is a gimmick. Some say it works and others wish they had saved the $$

seafoam is like ten bucks, so i dont see why not.

Yes, you can add it to the oil and fuel along with the vacuum source. It cleans everything.

I've used seafoam in my fuel tank but I wouldn't dare try putting it in the oil.

Ive heard lots of things about seafoam, i personly will never put that in my car. The latest news i heard about it is that it's not fuel pump and injector safe. Another problem with seafoam if not done correctly you could hydrolock engine.

If you wanta clean the carbon out of your engine, just take it open road and floor it.

Change your oil regularly and you wont have to put anything in your oil.

When I bought my car it had been sitting in a barn un-driven for sometime and it was dumping out a decent amount of carbon while I floored it home. My buddy following me got a good whiff of it the whole way back.
