Default are roller rockers noisier then stock rockers?

just wondering because I was doing alittle work on my daughters truck and its a stock chevy 350 1993 and its quite no lifter or rocker noise but on my motor its noisier not a tap sound just the valve train noise but i'm not stock but is it norm to have noise on top?
the noise isn't there at idle just when you rev it up

thanks.
oh my motor has 4000 miles and I adjusted the valves 2 weeks ago and I did it 1 turn past preload.
5-30 oil

Yep, quite a bit noisier. AND the injectors will really add to the noise, more-so if you have aftermarket injectors. Just having the 8 injectors will make a noticeable addition to 'ticking'.

You mean you added 1 turn past zero lash (adding preload).
Normally, for stock rockers, 1/2 to 3/4 turn is adequate.

The lifters determine the amount of preload, and it shouldn't matter how many miles are on the engine. I always use 1/2 turn past zero lash. I have full roller rockers and they are a little bit noisier than stock. As long as it's not really loud or hitting the valve covers, you should be good.

Those roller rockers sound normal, my crane 1.6's are a little noiser. I found my car to run the best with only a 1/4 turn past zero lash. I tried 1 full turn, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8. Every setup is different but 1/4 is where I left mine.

True!

The GM shop manual calls for 1 full turn, but that's on a stock engine with stock lifters. CompCams, on the other hand, calls for 1/8 turn on their 875R lifters, and they are ADAMANT about it.
