Why don't you post up in a Mustang forum? This is a Camaro web site for the most part and you should think of looking into this site. http://www.mustangforums.com/

A 5speed V6 '98 mustang couldn't beat an automatic LT1 fbody on its best day. Unless the LT1 was running on 7 pistons or something.

Your buddy has either A) a lot of engine work done to his V6 or B) doesn't know his head from his ***. More than likely he doesn't know his head from his *** though.

I'm pretty sure that '98 V6 mustangs have 180HP and tend to run mid to high 15's in the quarter while 5speed 2nd gen DSM's can bang out low 15's stock. I could see him edging out a turbo talon with a bad driver but I can assure you he doesn't have a prayer against a good running LT1 FBody. Even with a completely shitty driver, a 275/285HP FBody, M6 or A4 should walk all over the Ford turd..

Hope that helps-- otherwise as rowdyz28 said, you'll find more detailed information on the '98 V6 mustang on a mustang forum.

My cousin had a friend that bought a V6 mustang to race his 94 Formula.

He got DESTROYED by the formula so he put a nitrous kit on it. raced again and got DESTROYED again.

V6 mustangs through at least 01-02 were a joke. The new ones I doubt are any better.

a v6 mustang from that year will not run 15s. be lucky to hit high 16s. they cant hang with a lt1 let alone a corolla

A 99-04 V6 5speed Stang struggles to run mid-high 15's. A single port SN95 is nowhere near that. They're rated at low 17's in the 1/4, and I'll believe it. A kid in my town has a '95 with a 5speed, and it's slower than ****. For some reason he thinks it's fast and tries to race everyone though. I'm pretty sure he's never won a race.

Like already said, a stock 98 GT won't beat a LT1 car, let alone a v6. A 1998 cobra is a drivers race with an LT1, and a 99-04 GT is also a drivers race with an LT1

U cant keep head gaskets in the 94 through 98 3.8s long enough to try to race anything. They are junk. It couldn't beat a n/a talon, let alone a turbo talon. Best thing for those cars is a gas can and a match.

IB4TL! (might want to PM a mod and see if they could move this one to the lounge since it has nothin to do with LT1's)

Heres what my Formula did to a stock 99 V6 mustang (He has a CAI, but other than that its bone stock)... With pretty much only exhaust work (mods in sig) on my Formula. He passed me a good 20mph faster too...

(I'm the car that was being passed in the beginning.... sorry for the shitty video.. Click the link above to watch the video)

You be the judge on that one.

Well, it has something to do with LT1s now... all of us have absolutely decimated Mustangs, even if they've all been V8s lol The only V6 I've raced was a Stealth, non turbo. That was in my TPI car, with a passenger.... I smoked him badly (really badly lol)

The only way it would be "special" is if someone took the factory supercharged 3.8 from a Thunderbird and dropped it in place (which isn't a bad idea really), but still then I highly doubt it's as impressive as GM's 3800 SC!

My buddy had a 2002 mustang V6 until I walked on his *** with a 99 ford explorer sport, haha he traded it in for a GTO then shortly after i got my bird. That is still one of my favorite kill stories haha. I kept teasing him saying that his car was all show and no go cuz he kept doing appearance mods and slapped a tornado in it. One night after work i embarassed him in front of 4 guys from the shop not once but twice.

hah That IS a great kill story. My best kill story was a kid at school, who well not to be mean, was a total loser (not that I was popular, but you get my point) and had the last year they Carbed a 305 Camaro. He thought it was hot **** of course. I owned my 90 Suburban with the standard 350 TBI they had, all 190hp I think lol (and 4000000ft/lbs of torque of course). Going to school one morning I managed to meet him at a light.... WWWWAAALLLKKEEDD HHIIMMM lol Oh, I had a 4" Susp lift and 33" tires too Doesn't help the 0-60 there any >_> His buddy who rides with him was making fun of him in shop class that day haha

Wonder if the 3.4/3.8L 5spd F-Bodys can beat the Stangs, seeing as how bad we destroy them.

My first car was a 98 v6 5 speed and no lie you can ask silverM6ta that son of a bitch was bad for a v6 pulled a 5.5 0-60 in it once with a low low 6 average, but that thing could pull a 5.3 sierra freak from 40-80 steadily where a 14.9 quarter tiburon couldn't so dont know if this helps but thats from my experience!

Were 98s the first or last years for anything? If the last of the 3.8 I'd say they went out with a bang, new cam maybe? If FIRST of a newer 3.8 or other V6, that could be it and then they figured "too much for the V6, detune it" *shrug*

The 98 was the last year before they went to the new edge sn-95. All 94-03 had a 3.8 and a 3.9 in 04. The 98 3.8L V6 was rated at 150bhp with 215tq, while the new edges got a bump to 190bhp and 220tq. This number was later raised to 193bhp and 220tq. In October 03 the 3.8 changed to the 3.9 with no horsepower increase!
