Angry Idles Fine But Takes no Gas

I own a 1994, TA. I Just relaced OPi-SPark, water pump, and radiator. I cleaned the throttle with choke cleaner. the car has 100,000 miles and its automatic. When I start it, it idles fine but as soon as i give it gas it shuts off (pushing the pedal a little will make it go up to 800RPM). The RPM wont pass 1k. I tried putting gas throught the throttle but shuts off as soon as it gets gas. Any Ideas???

I have to say that is quite odd. What brand opti did you get? Are you positive that all of your wires are routed correctly and fully seated? I would double and triple check them, not kidding.

Oh no...who did you buy it from? Please tell me it was "thepartsladi" and not something like AllIgnition.
Yes, check the wires again.

I've always understood that you can not use carb cleaner on a fuel injected engine. I'd put money that you fouled something out (MAF, TPS, MAP, IAC). Easiest way to tell is to get it on a scanner and monitor what's going on when it stalls.

As long as you spray it on and wipe it off without getting it on a sensor, there's nothing wrong with it. Most say throttle body/carb cleaner.

One thing to check for is to make sure the exhaust is not clogged, as in a bad catalytic converter...

It will do just as you said, idle fine, but any RPMS and it will stall out... Actually if this has been a progressional thing, did you notice teh car not making power and power starting to drop off rapidly? If so, and you have a catalytic converter on the car, there is a great chance it is borken up and clogging the exhaust...

Only way to tell is to pull the cat off and look at it... You can try banging on it to see if you can hear pieces loose in it, but that is far from a definitive test if it is silent... If you hear stuff rattling around, you can be certain is is broken.

Just something else to checkout...

Ok I checked if any spark plugs are put on wrong and there not, every spark plugs are in right order. also, the throttle body kicks back white smoke, it rarely happens but it happens. out of the hundred time i started the car it happen 3 times. Already checked the CAT a good amount of air come out the exhaust, I'll remove the cat completely tomorrow. the car has been sitting for about 3-6 weeks with no start. i changed the radiator cause it was spraying water everywhere, a buddy of mine said to change some sensors might be wet. any opinions?? by the way its a 93 TA with the MAF being under the trottle body not on the air intake.

All years have MAP sensors. '93 runs in speed density, so it doesn't utilize a MAF sensor.
