Sounds like you possibly have a crossed plug wire. Check, recheck, then doublecheck the recheck on the order of the wires.

Have you tried scanning the PCM for any stored codes?

In order to diagnose the car you have to take the proper steps first of which includes scanning the car for any possible codes that would prevent the car from starting such as DTC 16. Invest in an interface cable and free scanning software plus a laptop.

I just posted this in another thread. The cables can be found at www.tunercat.com

the one you should need (1994 z28 right?) is USB/ALDL-1.

and it plugs into the laptop.

It will tell you if there are any codes stored by the PCM.

www.ttspowersystems.com is Datamaster - a free program (register after 20 uses) that will allow you to pull codes, check sensor data, monitor knock retard, etc.

You should not be pushing on the IAC pintle as you can damage it. It is a stepper motor that moves in and out to change the flow of idle air to the intake manifold runners.

It should be clean but you can damage it by forcibly trying to move it.

Have you confirmed that you are getting good spark out of the optispark AND the coil while the motor is cranking? How did you end up adjusting the rockers?
