Default Cam opinions

Motor in sig. 383 11:1 CR. Will be upgrading to 42# injectors and a 58mm TB as well. Heads flow very well:

lift int exh
100 76 68
200 132 112
300 188 138
400 236 168
500 264 188
550 274 196
600 280 204

I was thinking of running the XFI 292 which is: 292/300 .584"/.579" w/1.6 Rockers. Should i go bigger? Trying to keep my 987 valve springs since i dont want to have to swap out all the valvetrain.

His email is bret@bauer-racing.com. You could get one through Lloyd or AI as well. Lloyd's run $300 I believe and I think AI's run $375...I think. I don't know about Bret's cams. Good luck.

I'd stick with an LE or AI cam

personally I'd say LE since you'll be more likely to get help and will cost about $50 less

I always recommend staying on the smaller side of duration with higher lifts...FWIW I run an 11.2:1 383 with ported stockers (2.00/1.56 valves) and I run a weenie 226/234 .568" 111 lsa cam...Numbers in my sig...Bigger is definitely not better..Remember for optimal results you need to match heads/cam/converter/rear gear...oops....you're an M6...subtract the converter!!

I have run the XFI 292 and I have had me experience with Bret Bauer. I recommend you stay away from both. I now run the much smaller 226/234 AI cam and it runs better all around than either of those cams. The Bauer cam was just a complete nightmare all together, not to mention it did not perform.

My vote personally is to go to AI

I don't suppose there is even a slight chance the Bauer cam wasn't all due to him? Not saying it wasn't his fault just that alot of people are so quick to blame other people for the reason their car didn't perform like it should. In my experience a vast majority of the time it's tuning or installing the cam improperly. But again I am in no way saying that those scenerios were the culprit. So please don't take offense. If you did everything right then maybe it was the cam.

But yes AI would be a good choice. They make great stuff without a doubt...but Lloyd is another great option. Bret's cams have been known to perform as well. Make it your choice though.
