Question Questions About Rocker Arms

i bought a 65 el camino a couple of weeks ago it had a 461/468 lift cam vette heads 202 valves it has stock rocker arms can i put 1.6 rocker arms should that bring my lift up to like 490? and also i was wondering how much power would i get from that and will the car sound like it has a bigger cam?

thanks guys

i tried the small block 1st gen section but nobody answered me

You'll be looking at 491/499 lift with 1.6 rockers on the 65 elc. Little to no difference in sound, because the duration really doesn't change. Power increase will be determined by how well the current cam fits the combination. Probably won't be a seat of the pants difference.

Lot's more info needed for anyone to make a cam recomendation on the 84.

I'm saying that it won't make a noticeable power increase that you can feel.

How much does the car weigh? What gear ratio are you running? What trans? If it's an auto, what tourque converter?

Duration is a more important specification than lift when choosing a cam. Given that you're using a dual plane intake, a 670 cfm carb, and stock rotating assembly, I would look at something with a duration in the mid 220's to low 230's. A flat tappet cam in that duration range will probably fall somewhere between .480 and .500 lift. The bigger the cam gets, the more converter and gear that will be needed for it to perform well.
