Default 1996 LT1 issues..please help!

I recently bought my 1996 Camaro z28 but there are a few problems..first off once i hit about 2500 rpm i begin to hear a light knocking sound. Im pretty sure its from the rockers..im assuming they are lose causing them to hit once i hit high rpm's. Any experience on this guys?

Also i seem to have starting issues..When engine is cold it starts up great but it seems when it get real warm its has a hard time starting. Could it be timing? or just the starter going bad?

Thank you

the knocking ur hearing is probably a loose rocker or mayb more. the starting issue may be caused by ur coil getting hot when ur car warms up because its bolted to the driver side cylinder head and its gettin to hot. jus put a washer or to between it if that doesnt fix it then id check ur spark plugs n wires first before ur starter.

^^ agreed, how many miles are on it? If the previous owner replaced plugs and wires it's possible they weren't secured properly and you now have a missfire. Our wires can/ will burn and deteroriate pretty quickly if not kept away from the exhaust. My #7 cylinder was missing and I had no idea. It idled fine but it had a slight vibration at about 2500 rpm's, it didn't have a knock and if it did I wouldn't have heard it over the exhaust! I found it by checking the engine with the garage lights off, new wires and the vibration went away! Do the suggested washers to seperate the coil from the head and see if you can isolate where the noise is coming from.

Oh! I never thought about that! It has 120k miles and honestly I don't think the previous owner worked on his car at all. Any more info guys? BTW it's about 10-15 knocks a second once I hit 2500 rpm
Also removing the AC compressor was a bitch! Whoever has removed one did you take it out the bottom or the top?!

If it's got a 120,000 miles and no work done. I would strongly suggest doing a FULL tune up. Get new plugs (NGK TR55's), wires (MSD 8.5mm), new coil (OEM replacement), new distributor (AC Delco or Delphi), and a new ICM (GM replacement). Perform the ICM cooling mod while you are at it.

You should also have your rockers readjusted if you think they are loose.

not sure but could be hard to start because the timing is in retard because of the knock. Am i wrong on this SS or does the timing go back to 0 when the car is turned off?

From the bottom I can't see for the life of me how it would come out the top unless you take the entire acces bracket off.. just need to get a bunch of socket extension, a universal swivel joint and undo the double lines on the back then the bracket that goes to the engine block and then its the 3 bolts up front....

I would advise against it. Some have done it without issue, others have had catostrophic failure.
Stick so rags, simple green, and elbow grease.

x2 is the same as +1. Just means he agrees with me.

NGK TR55 spark plugs. They are ~2 bucks a piece.
