I've always been interested in doing a big disp. LT1, but something tells me if this were to happen the price would be sky high and there would be little demand, especially since it may be less expensive to build a big cube LS1 and get virtually the same or much better results for the money spent.

I'm interested. It doesn't hurt to try to get some company or other to TRY and start something up, we never know where it'll lead to. And of course the stock ported heads won't be up to par, but I want to believe that the AFRs, Darts, and TF's will only continue to develop for us as well with stuff like this. LT1 folk who are in it for the long run might benefit from this type of action.

i seriously doubt, any big time co. will invest in further development of ltx heads and intakes. besides what is currently available. lsx is where the money has been all along. business sense says develop lsx further.
even tuners of other brands are developing lsx swap specific parts.
some import hood builder is working on carbon fiber hood designed to clear lsx swap intakes such as vic. jr. etc., kmembers, trans mounts and so forth.

This topic has been tossed around here a few times:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...ello-dart.html

There WAS a Donovan block but it was very expensive. It seems that they took a aluminum SBC and welded & machined it until it was a "LT1"

Donovan never offered those. Jeff bought two gen 1 blocks and modded them like that, later selling off one and keeping one.

I would want one if they could be had for ~$2000 prepped with 4 bolt splayed billet main caps and a big bore.

This is a real dead horse you guys are beating here. Ain't nobody gonna cast a new LTx block. Anyways, as stated, it's the heads that's more of a limiting factor than the engine size. Go to a 383 and get a set of SB2.2 heads and intake and you'll make serious power. Of course, for the money spent, you could've made the move to a aluminum LS motor.

If DART ever decides to go ahead with it, I say they first take some non-refundable downpayments. I'd be down for one, for sure.

I actually like the idea^^^. Easy way to make much bigger power without totally adapting to LS platform. And how much could they charge for a block?? You can get an LSX for under 2 and not worry about hurting it. I just don't think the demand is there for it.

Maybe it's their Photoshopping job... but that doesn't look like a modified GEN I block >_>
http://www.worldcastings.com/press_r...s/motownls.pdf

The valley area looks like a normal SBC intake section. Or is that still the same and the only real difference the deck, so you can bolt the heads on a GEN I?

The only thing the same between gen 1 and 3 is the bore spacing. The block is a whole new re-design with different bolt holes to mount the heads. The water jackets have been changed also.

That's my point. The block in their picture doesn't look changed any, especially not enough to accommodate the GEN III/IV heads. And while I think it's a very very cool idea, and while a bit off topic, what are swappers supposed to do about exhaust? Just run factory III/IV manifolds?

I think it'd be sweet running LS heads though, not sure how the LT1 manifold would hold up against those beasts.

The pic they have on the site isn't very good, but the block is changed quite a bit to get the heads to fit. The factory LS intake also fits as well as the exhaust manifolds/headers. They had an article in Hot Rod magazine and this set up made more power than an LS with same cam..etc.

I'd take a Dart LT block that could fit LS heads/LS Victor JR intake!
