Default Almost beating a dead horse but not quite, lol!

I know the LS1 lid topic has been beaten turned over, beaten, turned over, you guys get the point. It's just that for some reason I'm so facsinated by it that I'm gonna have to do it. Fortunately for me I work on airplanes for a living and our series of hangers had a sheetmetal shop and I've managed to make pretty good friends with one of the guys working there and he happens to be very good.

Anyway, I've been reading for hours now and researched and I realize that I should already know this topic from top to bottom. So I've come to the conclusion that I can cover up a trim to the radiator support much easier than trimming the bracing under the hood that won't guarantee me a fit anyway.

So, I guess the question is which lid actually offers the most clearence? I'm assuming that it's the SLP lid, is this a good assumption? It seems to be the lid that most of you are using plus from some pics that I've seen it does look like it offers the most clearence. It's killing me guys I'm gonna have to do it.

LOL DO IT!
i was apprehensive at first myself but i went for it and since it has been on my car for a while now it really makes a good difference in a few ways....
for a few years all my LsX friends have talked about the SLP lid being the best overall so i followed suit....the gains of 2 tenths and 1.8mph over the moroso, the looks and clean up it did was more of a benefit to make me stress the potential of this mod.....measure 2X cut 1X

The SLP lid doesn't fit the LS1 airbox very good. I had a wisper lid and it's a lot better quality than the SLP.. I now have a fast toys lid and it fits even better..

Dude, I'm not going to be able to use the lower air box as much as I'd like to. I need to know which lid will give me the most hood clearence. I'll take a look at the ft lid. Will I need or be able to trim the bottom of the lid itself some if I need to? I'd rather do that than hack into the hood, ya know.

I looked @ the fast toys lid. It looks nice and the options art good but since I'm gonna have to GIT CUSTOM with everything I can't hardly justify the cost. I saw that Speed inc has the SLP with a filter on ebay for like $92. Hard to beat that price. Plus, the FT lid looks like it might make things a little harder to fit under the hood. I'm gonna try my very best to keep from doing any hood trimming and the bulge looks like it might cause more of an issue than the SLP.

Yeah ,I'm not ruleing it out but I do have a small cowl. It's gonna be interesting. I've studied it pretty good so I'll see. I just want the neatest job possible.
