Default Finished my LE2 H/C/I build. Few ?'s

Hey guys, I finished my le2 build last week. I drove it around with the stock tune for a few days, and the car seemed to run good. I noticed I have to give it quiet a bit more throttle off the line than when it was a bolt on car or it bogs and kinda wants to stall out. Is this normal Im not sure bcz the cams operating range is 1700-6100 (LE emissions cam) I got a tune (mail order) put the 38lb injectors in and Took it for a drive everything seemed really good other than it was running rich I could really smell the fuel. and I still had to give it lots of throttle of the line and kinda have to slip the clutch a bit to get a smooth start. Also the second time I took the car out with the tune (about 10 mins later) to take my bro and buddy for a ride the car would hold idle at 1500-2000rpm I have the idle set to 740rpm and the first drive it would holds idle at 740 perfect. Now it hold idle between 1500-2000 some of the time,
sometimes its fine and idles at 740. the car also takes a couple seconds to idle down after a quick rev is this normal? If anyone could help I would really appreciate it as I cam kinda lost on this.

Car is a 94z28 M6 mods: Le2 heads, le emissions cam, le ported intake, 58mm holley tb, 38lb injectors, 1.6rr's electric, waterpump, lts cai... all the other supporting mods.

You need a tune, I wouldn't drive it until you get one..

You can get tunercats or some other software, an ALDL cable, and use your laptop with someone elses tune files if need be.

sounds like you need to get some more tuning done, and maybe some TB/IAC tweaking....i'd also get some wideband data before going WOT

You said you can smell gas. That is a dead giveaway that the tune is WAY off. Are you sure you told the mail order tuner what injectors you were going to run? They only go by what you fill out on the sheet, and they usually go a little conservative to be safe.

Yup made sure I told him they were 38lb lucas injectors. I know its running really rich, maybe the cars overfueling thats why its taking so uch throttle to start off? or am I way off.

Id get some datalogs, send it back to Ion. Then he can see what the car is doing, how it reacts to his previous file. x2, the TB sounds like it might need tweaked..idle screw.

Ill try and get My bro to bring a scanner home from work tomorrow and ill get some info. Could the bogging/ almost stalling out be a result from the car running to rich?

Yes. It is most likely loading up. At higher rpm's it will probably clean up a bit and seem better, but it still isn't optimal.

Its hard for a mail order tuner to get the fuel trims exact with the bigger injectors. Im running 42# lucas, and I gained 40 hp from the mail order to dyno tune....

Agreed. My H/C setup gained 30rwhp through a stalled auto over my mail order tune, and that was only with 30# SVOs.

I wanna get a dyno tune but nobody has the soft ware in my area. If u buy lt1 edit of tunercats can a local shop dyno tune it? Ive never been on a dyno and all the dyno/ tunning stuff is extremley new to me.

I would imagine so. Id look for a trustworthy shop along with a discounted rate since your splurging for the software...
