Default EWP always on?

Ok so im reading the instructions and they clearly say to wire the blue wire to the positive, and the black wire to the ground chassis. Doesn't this mean that the EWP is always going to be on? Am i missing something here?

What pump, whose instructions, and what kind of pot were they smoking?

To install it correctly you need to run a relay that's activated with the ignition.

yeah you either need a relay or a switch.

What he said. It's not that expensive neither. Its the relay kit which is easy to put in, or having to unplug the ewp everytime you park it and plug it back in when you take off or just leave the damn thing running 24/7.

Mines a daily driver, so the relay kit was the way to go.

I agree..sounds like a Relay is missing from the setup.

The pump is from Meziere, and they didn't provide a switch nor relay. Or even stated that I needed any of these. Where can i find a relay kit for the pump?

You don't really need a Relay kit..just go to O'Rielly's and wire a 4-Pin Relay into a circuit that goes hot with the Key on. Then you power the Pump through the Relay from the Battery, ground it to the Chassis.

Here is how I would do it..

85- ground
86- power from ignition hot wire(hot when key on).
30- power in from Battery.
87- wire to Water Pump positive.

Then ground the negative side of the Pump to the chassis. With it setup this way it will come on when you turn the Key on.

Or use a circuit tester on your fuse box in the engine bay and find a wire that goes hot when the key is on.

No matter what the accessory is that is placed into your car aftermarket it SHOULD be controlled by a relay

Yea, that's part of it when you need to find one that is hot with the Key on..I use a test light to find them.

Pull the bottom cover off of the Fuse Box..more than likely any of the orange ones in there are ones that go hot with the Key on..if you can find one that is a 18ga splice off of that one to power the Relay.

it is better and easier on the EWP and the cars electrical system to use a relay. It aids in the powering on process.

Can i just do a simple switch? Splice the blue wire run it to my glove department and then just have a switch. I literally dont have any more money to spend on anything. So would this work?

yes it will work but IMO i would, when i had the money, went in and wired it up to a relay. If i were you i would wire it into the ignition hot on the fuse block. When you remove it from the base it is the prongs furthest away from the wire loom coming into the fuse block IIRC. This way you do not have to worry about forgetting to turn it on/off and run the possibility of overheating you engine.

You need this http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...10765&D=310765

They also make a waterproof version that is double the price.

The only proper way to do it is to put it on its own relay... You can have all sorts of issues overloading another part of the existing electical system by hacking into it and adding another accessory, especially something with the current demands of an EWP.

Dont be cheap, wait til you can do it right and get the parts you need, then do it.

If you dont want to order it from painless, go to the parts store and fix something up as was mentioned.

No, you will burn up the Wires and have yourself a fire.
