Default GM header gasket doesn't make Pacesetter hole

What do you guys do about this. I don't have the GM Performance gaskets, and I really need to finish this job tomorrow.

I bought new GM stock gaskets, and it has the outer holes way out, not like performance gaskets have them right after the D-port.

Help.

cut the inner holes, I lines mine up with the header flange and traced the inner diameter of the hole then cut it out with an exacto knife

that must be some exacto knife. How long did it take you to cut one hole?

i stood on the gasket placing my feet real close to the hole and drilled the holes out. went real easy but you have to stand on it close to the hole or else the drill bit could twist up the gasket.

what brand were they? I had some fel-pro's that didnt come with the right holes and I trashed the gasket getting it back out. I've got some percy's on the way now...hoping their right for me, marking it and cutting would be a huge PITA!

I picked up a nice set of SBC copper header gaskets from Autozone. They work very well and should last a long time with multiple reuses. They have hooks on the ends to use either of the outer pair of bolt holes.

There is only one type of header gasket I would recommend...Remflex. Unless you want to keep changing header gaskets. Ive been throught following...

Felpro
Mr. Gasket
Summit Copper
Percey
GM

Well I finally did it and it went pretty well. The first hole we drilled took forever, but we didn't have anything backing the hole we were going to drill. I didn't want to drill the floor afterall.

So, after reading the comment on here about drilling it on the floor, I decided to put it over a 2x4 and a heavy flat weight to hold it down. Drilled decently in about 2 minutes or so, and then I bored the hole w/ a RotoZip.

Finally finished the header install on Wednesday, and haven't been able to get the rest of the TDs fabbed up. I'm going over tomorrow morning to the exhaust shop to route over the axle out back.

Hope to start a thread w/ pics and hopefully a vid.
