Default Heating up hills

I am curious on best way to keep the car cool. I found I pretty much started overheating as I was cruising up the hills a last week. I do enjoy cruisin through the hills so want to figure out what I should do....

Currently I have full bolt ons, 3600 circle d converter, shift kit, level 4 flt tranny with 273 gears. I am using a hayden trans cooler and of course the 160 thermastat.

Souns like you have a problem with your cooling system. You shouldn't be overheating, regardless if you are driving over Mount Everest or not.

Agreed...is your front air dam good? May check your fans too...make sure they are kicking on at the right times and all.

I also got an SLP Fan Switch...I found a company that makes a switch bezel that sits inside the ashtray on my center console, and ran the fan switch there...did a little custom wiring, and you can never tell. They have a 2, 3, or 4 switch system and when you close the ashtray lid the switches are covered...open it and there they are. You cant use the ashtray anymore, but its a great way to hide the switches and not modify crap. Now if my car runs too hot for my liking...just flip a switch and the fans turn on full blast and cool the engine for me. Works great on hot as hell days, and at the track!

everything is custom too. you can have them labled whatever you want, they light up, and they have different types of switched such as 3 position, rocker, on/off, etc. It looks great and works greeat!

What do you consider overheating? As in what temperature is the gauge at when you feel it is getting too hot? Have you done anything to the cooling system lately?

Figured it was the converter heating up. I will have the fans checked, but they are set to turn on I believe at 1800 rpms. I was told by a buddy to see about a bypass to the tranny cooler, still gotta check on that. Just wanted to get some feedback.

You have your fans set to a specific RPM and not a specific tempature???

I recently got a new Performabuilt and still run the 30k btu tranny cooler and my radiator cooler at the same time along with my 160* t-stat.. My car runs awesome and yours should too! Double check all that stuff!

What the hell??? How do you get your fans to come on at an RPM instead of a temp??? Or do they come on at 180 degrees, and that was a typo?

I unscrewed the drain plug to flush out the radiator fluid and added a half gallon coolant and half gallon water and filled it from there. Then I added the other half gallon of coolant to the reservoir and it seemed I could have added a lot more. Hence the question above.
