Default Cam question

I have a 95 Z28. my heads are down in FL and are just getting finished as we speak.
Just a 3 angle valve job, de-burring, and a port and polish. I am having him install beehive springs for me...

The rest of the top end is 1.6 scorpion rockers and that’s pretty much it.

I felt up the cylinder walls and they seam to be very smooth so I am going to leave the bottom end alone.

My question is what cam can I run (I have two choices in mind)
that I don't have to run a shorter valve and can keep the same pushrods.

It's a toss up between the CC503 or
the Comp Cams XFI LT1 Camshaft, 230 / 236, .576 / .570 113 LSA,

I have full bolt ons, 58MM tb, gutted mass air... it is a M6 car. and I know i will need a tune.

I am also looking to keep the stock injectors (running low on funds)

I would like some input on what you guys think, or are the cams that I have chosen to aggressive...

shell out a couple more bucks and go the custom route. you'll be able to get something that performs better than off the shelf items and is easy on the valve train since it sounds like you want to keep some stock parts.

Go to lloyd elliott for a custom cam, hes an awesome guy to deal with. Tell him what you want out of the car and he will help you figure out whats best for your goals.

i think you're going to want to change your injectors anyway...i was thinking the stock injectors were at 9x% with the 503.

and i hope you mean same length pushrods...not stock

I'd measure first. If you're changing your roller rockers and lifters you mite need a different length pushrod.

I don't understand why everyone always says to get a custom grind even when it comes to really mild builds. An off the shelf cam will be cheaper and you even have a chance of being able to find one used.

Just for information: GM HighTech Performance just ran a series of dyno tests using different LT1 heads but using that same LT1 230/236 cam you referenced. The results are posted on their website. From memory, the AFR 195s made 516 HP and one other set was close at around 511 HP and the others were in the 480/490 range.

Earlier, they also ran a series of tests on a 355 LT1 and opted NOT to use that cam, 230/236, saying they felt it had too much duration for a 355 CID engine. Instead, they went with a 224/230 XFI cam. They had Comp grind it for them for no additional cost. Those results are on their site too.

I just had a custom grind done by them for my son's 96 Vette and there was no additional cost either; $303.00

The cam used by GMHTP in the 355 is in the same family of lobes (XFI) as the 230/236 just one step shorter in duration (most Comp's move in 6 degree increments).

I believe the 230/236 is better suited for a 383 and larger engine in order to keep the low end torque up.

I'm running the same XFI 230/236 with 1.7 Scorpions and it's fine in my engine, but it's a 388 CID. Cubes make a difference in cam selection.

Also, cam selection is a thorny business and you'll get many differing views; these are just mine.

ok, after readingquite a bit... i am going to go with the CC503 (07-305-8 )
if I am reading correct I should be ok with 1.6 RR and behive springs
Is that all I need? or am I missing something?

get hardened pushrods at least, if you go with stock they will bend bad with the cc503. are you replacing your lifters at all? that might be a thought, and you only really need to replace the cam bearings if they are really warn.

but if you want injectors too my buddy is selling 30lb injectors for $100 with 5k miles on them.
