Default Crane 227 w/ 1.7 ratio rockers - PTV clearance issues?

I do plan on checking to be sure but I'm just brainstorming right now and wondering if anyone has any input on this.

Need to buy rocker arms anyway so I'm thinking about going with 1.7 rockers to get a little extra lift out of the Crane 227 cam since I have well-ported heads that should flow well to .600". The heads are also milled about .008" if that makes much of a difference, and this is essentially a stock shortblock although it may have been rebuilt at some point. Using a caliper to roughly measure it looks as though the piston is in the hole at least .030", and I am going to be using the Victor Reinz Impala head gasket with a .026" compressed thickness.

With 1.7 rockers the Crane 227 would be at .543"/.578" lift. I really don't think I should have any problems, but I didn't know how big of an effect the heads being milled .008" and the thin gasket would have on the PTV clearance.

I don't see you having any issues. .008" is more like a clean up mill to true it up.

I've ran the 227 and 1.7's on a stock short block but it had stock thickness gaskets as well. There were no PTV issues with that motor but I couldn't say for sure if it would work with the .026 gaskets.

The lift a cam has has nothing to do with PTV, its duration and advance, and the 227 is a tiny cam so it will clear fine.
