? about carb'd ltx. the motor is your basic lt1 block with some top end stuff done to it. i'm moving over to conventional distributor and have a question... when i am setting initial timing for this motor, how the FRICK does it work. Set motor at tdc compression pull dampener? align arrow pointing at 12 o clock? mark this as what in terms of timing? any help would be appreciated |

Then you'd need a line of some kind on your harmonic balancer. Install the balancer that the line matches up with the 0* mark at TDC. Then you'd have to use a timing light to advance the timing to the "best" setting. What that is I have no idea. |
Get a piston stop and bring it up to TDC. You will need a timing marker on the block to reference the balancer. if your balancer already has degree marks, line up the marker to zero if not get timing tape and do the same. Then you will adjust timing as usual. Try different settings at idle until you get it correct. is this a lockout distributor? if so then you will need to lock it at around 34-36*, |
thanks. yeah im using the stock lt1 dampener and probably just going to use timing tape and a timing reference pointer to help out. sounds good. thanks guys. |
