Do these rockers sound ok??

Its a SR, so I might just be acting paranoid lol But does everything sound ok, not too loud, nothin sounds bad, ect..

Also, the third one back on the drivers side is not oiling, how bad is this??

Thanks for looking,

it'll be quieter with valve covers on it

it needs to be oiling. try to rev it a little. or that one could be a little tight.

WHITEBOY_ZACH 08-04-2009 09:50 PM

It sounded loud is the only reason I took them off. Also, I was wondering because the shop set the lash on them.

Ya'll want another video with the covers on? lol

Thanks for your feedback,
ZACH

Anybody else??

flyinZ 08-05-2009 05:34 PM

Id go back through them and double check the lash on them. Then, see if that same one, is still not oiling. Sounds fine, just like a SR should :) Actually quieter than my HR,lol. Freakin Pro Mag's are LOUD,man.

They sound horrible. Remove them and ship them to me...

JK, did you already verify the proper pushrod length you needed before installing them?

Kevin97ss 08-05-2009 09:37 PM

I hear a bit of a knock on the drivers side whereas the passenger side clacks(which is normal).
Nice shaft mounts BTW

WHITEBOY_ZACH 08-06-2009 09:45 AM

Ok thanks flyinz, Ill have to get my uncle to come over and supervise while I adjust the lash.

ss.slp.ls1, I did not, it was already put together. I hate to assume, but Im pretty sure they'd be right after all I've been through. lol

kevin97ss, that was actually my main concern, I thought I heard some knock and hoped and prayed it was just my rockers. I am still a little unsure as to which it could be.

I took a video (mostly for sound) of under the oil pan, trying to determine where the noise was. I can post plenty of other videos if need be.

Im so close now I can taste it, and I dont just mean the rich ass exhaust lol

ALSO, Is there anything special about adjusting Shaft mount rockers??

Thanks alot for all the help,
ZACH

When it comes to critical components and measurements...never assume anything.

WHITEBOY_ZACH 08-06-2009 11:23 AM

Ok, Well I meant the motor was already built when I got it, and then I had to have the machine shop work on it. Although I didnt ask them to check the length. I would hope the original builder would have done it correctly. IDk lol

ss.slp.ls1 08-06-2009 11:36 AM

Only a few things that I can think of that would cause excessive noise in your valvetrain; incorrect valve lash or incorrect pushrod length.

WHITEBOY_ZACH 08-06-2009 01:43 PM

Ok, well I'll look into it. I'm starting to lean more towards a slight knock. IDK.
Another question, if my gauge is reading really high oil pressure, like almost maxed out,..could that be bad?? or am I lucky?? lol

Almost maxed out is like 75-80psi of oil pressure, I doubt your pressure is actually that high. I would hook up a mechanical guage and see where your oil pressure is really at.

I would start in the area that has an obvious problem. Oil not making its way to a rocker needs to be investigated. It could be a simple blockage in the pushrod or a blocked oil passage to the corresponding lifter. If oil is not getting to that lifter it could stick in the bore and cause that knock your hearing.

Agreed. Take out the pushrod and blow out any gunk that may be inside the oil passage. Then dip it in some fresh oil and reinstall it.
