Default I've got some bad news guys

Well guys, I've got some bad news. I'm leaving the LT1 world. I found a black '98 Trans Am that's loaded for a price that's too good to pass up. I'm just waiting on the loan papers to get finalized, then I'm going to pick up the car tomorrow or Thursday. What really helped my decision was that 2nd gear went out on the good ole LT1 when I went home for lunch today. So, it's going to sit for a while, and I'll tear into the tranny once I get the T/A, then sell the Camaro after I get it fixed. The good news is, I can change the lid, ssra, suspension, shifter, and wheels/tires over to the T/A, so there's less money I'll have to dump into it, for now. It's been a good run with the LT1, but I can't pass up the T/A with the price, and how great it runs. Not to mention, I always wanted a T/A when I bought the Camaro, just couldn't find one with a 6speed and t-tops. Now, I did, and it even has an LS1. lol

out of all the things I have done with my LT1, the best thing I have done is sell it and get an LS1 car. you'll never look back.

OEWheels deep dish Y2k's. They're 18x10.5 on all 4 corners and machined face/black vents. They're only about 2 weeks old, so it's good that I'm getting a car that I can transfer them over to.

I see corn. Are you a farmer? I grew up on a farm in southern KY.

I like them. Do they come in black?

Yep, you can get them in black, with a machined lip. As for the corn, I don't live on a farm, but I work on one. I wish I lived on a farm, because I love farming. But, it'd be a little hard to start from scratch, with how much everything costs.

The only weird thing about the T/A is that it's bone stock. I'm not used to having a quick/fast car that's so quiet. lol. I got on it a little bit, and didn't hear that roar that I'm used to with my car. Oh well, once I get the Camaro fixed and sold, I'm going to order some Jethot LT's, and put some true duals, with an x-pipe on the T/A. Then, I'll get a mail-order tune and call it good for a little while. I should be able to pull mid 12's pretty easily then, and I'll be more than happy for quite a while.

I was actually thinking about keeping the LT1, since I could actually afford to. But, then I wouldn't really have enough money to mod either car any further for quite a while. Plus, I don't really want to pay $200+/month on insurance for 2 cars, along with the $200+/month car payment on the T/A. It's really not that much, but I'm used to having no car payment, and less than $100/month insurance. Not to mention, I'd have to buy another set of wheels for one of the cars. lol. Because I'm definately not keeping the wheels that are coming on the T/A, on it.

Here's a crappy cell phone pic of the car. The wheels are some American Racing rims. They look about like IROC rims. They do look a lot better in person, than in the photo, because they're extremely shiny. But, just don't look right on the car. They're the wrong offset and stick out a little too much.

Oh, and I also had the dealer pull up a Carfax on it while I was there. No record of any accidents, or anything. It's also a 1-owner car. The only records that come up for the Carfax are just exchanging of title. I was giving the definate yes to the car as soon as I saw the clean and clear Carfax. The car does have a couple cosmetic flaws, but nothing to worry about at all.

I made the switch in june. So much more top end power on the ls's. I do miss all the tq of the lt tho. This car put down 345 and still feels like it has no bottom end compared to my 96z

I've considered doing the same with my LT1

Lets face it, my dream car look is a black on black 01-02 WS6 A4. Love the low end torque on the LT1 though... Just not sure if I could ever bite the bullet because my 97 WS6 was the first car I fell madly in love with, despite small things breaking with the higher mileage on the car.

01-02 Ls1 would be nice to get rid of the damn optispark system though! lol

Watch out, The LT1's are making a big comeback with additional aftermarket parts I.E. a selection of heads.cams. If you were at the LTX shootout in Missouri then you would of seen some bad *** ground pounders. Some of the top names are still LT1, Tony Shepard, Loyd Elliot, Speed Inc, Ed Wright, Outlaw Z ect....

were all F-body lovers here and both engines are great. I wanted an ls1 but couldn't afford a decent one with low miles. I "settled" for an LT1 and now realize i didn't "settle" at all. both cars ******* move. even stock. Congrats on the new car!
