programmer?

Which hand held programmer can I use to recalibrate my speedo? I just went from a 3.23 gear to a 4.10, and my speedo is obviously not very accurate anymore! One of the guys at the local track said he re-did his himself with a handheld, unfortunately his won't work on my car.

Its a 95 Trans Am.

Also, Im having the car dynoed in a few weeks, however its an "import shop" thats doing it and they dont think they'll have the right reader for my car, so they also suggested getting a hand held programmer to do a bit of tuning while Im at the dyno. I called the local parts shop, but they've been useless so far, they claim they cant find anything for my car.

dont waste your $ on programmers. get a tune from pcm4less. they can fix all that and plus add some hp to your car. There tunes are only 150 bucks

if your going to get dyno tuned get it done then, why waste money on a tune or throw it away on a handheld.

Because they dont have anything to program it with. The shop Im going to is a Subaru specialty shop, the guy who owns it rally races for team Subaru Canada. My boyfriend races Subarus as well and is getting his car dyno tuned there next month. He said if I want to come along, I can bring my car, but I'll have to get some sort of a programmer, because all of their gear is Subaru specific.

oO yeah I messed up thinking your getting it tuned and not just dyno'd, in that case +1 for Ion(madtuner)

Actually the software to properly retune your car will cost LESS than a POS handheld programmer. If you or one of the guys is willing to learn the new software we can point you at all you need to custom programming it yourselves. Obviously a bunch of you are proficient with another application so someone should be able to master this one too.

Otherwise you can get a mailorder program, maybe even get a cable and load it yourself and datalog so you can give the tuner feedback.

Unfortunately I know nothing about cars or computers, so Im totally screwed in that aspect! I'd like a handheld as well so I can change shift points for daily driving/track days.

You can get a Hypertech to remove top speed limiter, shift points, wheel size, gear size temp to turn on fans but the tune it does on the car isnt really worth a crap
