Default Average cost of cam swap?

I have around $650 now and want to do something to my car, im looking at doing a cam swap but want to remain at my budget now.

Is it possible to get it done for that? If not then im probably just gonna spray it.

I want to do the CC503 but since comp is out of business is there a place that still stocks them?

Thanks guys.

unless you buy used parts or "semi" used parts maybe 650 might get most of the important stuff but it still wont be enough. You would still need to buy a tune and any other little stuff that you end up having to get during the process. Theres always something that you forget.

If your planning on buying everything new then no $650 wont come close. Double it. hell i spent a total of $1200 for everything needed to do the hotcam kit and that was just necessary parts i needed besides the kit. (the kit, gaskets, LT4 HD timing chain, fluids, tune)

cam swaps arent cheap.

comp isn't out of business, you must be thinking of crane whom is/did reopen

$650 seems like a bit of a stretch if you're including tune too, even for my cheap *** well here's what I did

-USED CC503 $130 shipped
-NEW Hardened 7.2" Comp Hi-Energy Pushrods $30 + shipping (optional)
-NEW Comp Magnum SA 1.6 Rockers $180 + shipping
-NEW Crane 10308-1 Spring Kit $180 + shipping
-NEW Advanced Auto Timing Chain $25
-Dyno Tune $3xx

and of course misc fluids and gaskets

I get $55 re-tunes so im good there. I plan on posting up a wtb thread and see what I get.

Would it also be a good idea to get new lifters? I hear the LS7 lifters are taller and you need shorter pushrods then factory. This true?

Thanks guys.

its always best to check pushrod length with any swap but I have heard that LS7 lifters can cause a change in pushrod length requirements. IMO if the stockers are in good shape and don't show any problems, keep em.

depends on how many miles are on your lifters and how they look. I bought a cam kit from AI and I already had the springs, locks, retainers and bought the RR's used and ended up spending a little over $1k after all the small things and tune and did all the labor myself of course.

ls7 lifters with 7.2 p.r will be just fine.
