backfire after lt header install while running open headers

backfire after lt header install while running open headers i just finished up my install of ebay stainless steel headers, msd cap rotor (new msd coil few weeks ago), 10.2mm plug wires, ngk platnum plugs, bosch o2's. fired it up open headers and it is backfiring will make LOUD pop noise. i tried driving it and it seems to make pop noise 2-5 times then wait a 5-15 seconds and pop again. friend said he saw it shoot flames out of driver side which seems to be only side backfiring. i checked the wires to make sure they are correct and they are, wires are not touching headers either. could it just be doing this because its open header? btw exhaust leaks where headers are bolted up, have to tighten them more(stupid reuseable thick crush type aluminum gasket). anyone know what could cause this? should i get full exhaust first? is it bad to let it run/drive while it does this should it be towed?

well, i ran my 383 for about 3 months open headers until i had the money for exhaust, and i gave mine hell too! but it never backfired once, i was gonna tell you to make sure a wire wasnt crossed but u said u already checked that, other than that idk wat could be causing it to do that unless the o2's have something to so with it?

Open headers here and no backfiring. Running 26" slip on past the O2 though. If you unplug the O2, its gonna put you in a open loop cycle. If it fixes the backfiring, then you need put header extentions on it so you can plug your O2's back up.

it did it after i let it run for like 1 min. would it have a chance to go a closed loop (or open loop whichever it uses o2's for)? im gonna check the wiring again it was kind of dark where i checked it last and i was using a small flashlight.
