Default NPB in AI H/C LT1 swapped 97 Camaro!

It'll be a little while be for my car is track legal, so I decided I couldn't miss the good weather and did a few things to my Wife's LT1 to see if I can best the 12.30 @ 116 that I ran at need2speed's DH10.

Knowing there should be more in it, but it is still on stock suspension and a 10 bolt, I really wouldn't be able to launch it the way it NEEDS to be launched, So my goal was an 11.99 for Sunday.

I was able to meet my goal on the first pass launching off idle on DR's!

Here's the slips in order (the first 3 were on MT DR's, the last 2 on ET Drags):

I was expecting the car to pick up 2 or 3 MPH from the DH event, but I damn sure wasn't expecting to trap 121 or 122 with a mild H/C LT1.

The only changes I made since DH10 and running the 12.3 @ 116 were:
Swapping the 3.42s to 4.10s, replacing the inconsistent, slipping stock replacement clutch with a Mcloud disk / LT4 pressure plate combo, and added a 3" exhaust cutout.

So all In all, I'm VERY pleased with the cars performance. My next goal will be to hit an 11.3x N/A once I do the suspension and put a stout rear in it. All while staying full weight (besides the swap to big and littles). I even left the baby seat in it for this event

Very nice! Do you know what the DA was when you ran?

Edit: I found out what the DA was

What size were your MT DRs vs your ET Drags? Just curious because it looks like you lost a fair amount of mph with the ET Drags even though the DA was much lower...

Time to make that car hook up. That is some big MPH.

Good luck with the car.

Thanks everyone! I cant wait to get a rear and suspension under it to knock down thos 60's with a HARD launch!

It was late when I made the thrad and forgot to add the detalis about the car for the ones that don't know.
Here's the basics:
AI 200CC stock casting H/C set up, mild 23x cam
Stock shortblock
t56
10 bolt w/4.10s

Here is a thread with more info on the car:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...hortblock.html

BTW, after final tuning it made 412/367 before the cutout, clutch and 4.10s

Here are two pics from the event:

This is aginst my friend Shawn's (tweak213) mild H/C 01 SS (243's, 232/239 cam).

And one of the weak launches:

And yes the car was FILTHY, lol

Way to get it done. Good luck once you have the parts to get that 60ft. down.

Both 26" (275/50/15 vs 26/10/15).

A DR is going to be more efficient on the big end anyway, but what probably multiplied the problem was the ET drags only having 9psi in them. My friend had been using them most of the day and that's what was working for his bolt on 4v mustang (12.30's @ 111). When I bolted them up, I knew the trap would drop, but was not expecting a 3mph drop. I went to go air them up, but the line for staging lanes 1&2 was WELL past the gas pumps and air compressor, so I just left them at 9 and hit the slick tire lanes (which were moving and short!)

It was pretty cool to do some back to back testing. I want to tray the same with my 96 Cobra. I'll soon be going from a 3.55 gears/26" slick combo (best has been a 9.93@142 w/1.43 60ft) to a 3.90/28" slick. I'm looking for consistent 1.3 60fts

On the street I'll be running 275/60/15 MT DR's (also 28"). I want to swap from the slicks to the DRs and make a couple off idle launches on both just to see how much it effects MPH

Ah I see, yep the 9psi explains it
