well what do you mean? its kinda hard to answer a question thats so vague. i mean as long as you have a means of starting it. Air, Fuel, Spark, and compression your motor will run. you can cut out all your interior, you can bypass vatts. you dont need an alternator, you dont need driving lights or anything. if your looking to just make it run then you can chop out half your wiring harness. how much of a race car do you want this to be?

speedracer2536 Mar 23, 2010 01:27 AM

its gonna be a semi dd.. i need lights and a stereo but thats it lol.

the_merv Mar 23, 2010 01:38 AM

Well how much is in the car at the moment?

1slo_camaro Mar 23, 2010 01:41 AM

honestly man. i would just put the car back to the way it is. if you are gonna drive it pretty often there is nothing really worth taking off honestly. i mean hell when it comes down to it theres really not much on the motor that you can take off. remove the smog and the a/c and thats really it. unless you wanna switch to a manual rack and pinion and get rid of your power steering. and changed your intake over to a Single plane and slap a regular HEI or MSD Dizzy on there and get rid of the opti. but unless you throw in a carbed motor and rewire it. you need pretty much everything cause of the fact of how computer controlled the car is. like the vatts controls eveyrthing. unless you bypass it like i did in my 3rd gen.

I plan on stripping all kinds of junk out of my Interior & Engine Bay Harness when I get back..my Engine Harness is pretty much stripped out. :)

speedracer2536 Mar 23, 2010 12:46 PM

merv. lmk what you come up with.. im ditching the a/c for sure. what are everyones thoughts of ditching the abs? worth it or no?

the_merv Mar 23, 2010 01:20 PM

I've ditched the ABS..lots more room.

I can tell you now what I will come up with.. lots of extra wiring..

gm controller pack... $264, set of coils... used anywhere from 50-130, new for 240-300
a few sensors and thats it.. You dont need the whole EFI setup with the gm controller pack. This is the easiest and chepaest way to run a LS in a non Ls car

speedracer2536 Mar 23, 2010 04:06 PM

its an lt1 in an lt1 car.. lol im not swapping

who_needs_maf? Mar 23, 2010 06:37 PM

I've deleted over 10 lbs of wires in my car. No ac, heat, power steering, abs, cruise control, egr / air, all the wiring for the airbags / hvac stripped out. No rear speakers or wire. Just wires for my tail lights. Front speakers only. It's more a matter of what you want to keep than how much you can get rid of.
