I wish AI would do a giveaway at the shootout or something to step up and say thank you to everyone in the community that pushes their name to so many people. It's not like with Lloyd who would have to spend a whole day with a grinder to give away a set, (who I highly commend for his cam giveaway) AI just has to put a set of cores in a machine, touch some buttons and walk away for 30 minutes. Word of mouth from guys like the above has to be 95% of their business. I know based on these forums if I had $2000 laying around the only 2 places I'd shop would be AI or LE. Maybe next year.

you know what the R&D timeon something like that is? the man hours put into developing a 5 axis CNC program to accurately cut a head like that? the initial purchase price of a good 5 Axis CNC machine like a HASS? the price would stagger you..........not to mention tooling and machine maintainenece....

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What Mike said. We are very fortunate to have Ai and their dedication, not the other way round.

I know the equipment and R&D are expensive, but it's justified with the performance and reflected in the price. I'm just sayingggggggg that NOW it's cheap for them to do a set, and it would be niceeeeeee if they would help promote the shootout by say giving away a set of 190s to the NEW champion (cough cough I'm aiming for you tony) of street stock

Do you really think it only takes 30 minutes to machine a set of heads?

I think it takes about 8 hours to cnc a pair of heads, but that's just more keyboard info. LOL I've got 2 sets of cnc'd LT1 heads...both from different places and neither AI. Nothing against AI...I just went with what was available used & for a good price.

9. 1/4 mile time NA

That car/setup is gone and sold, but it was fun while I had it. My new Ai 418 LS3 made quite a bit more power, and is quite a bit lighter. Once it gets fuel it should go 5.90s NA in the 8th.

you might want to learn a little more about machining before making a comment like that.

The video on YouTube of a set being machined is 9 minutes long, guess I should have read the description about how it is cut and actually takes hours. Still it would be nice to see AI at the shootout. I missed out on that big group purchase 3 years ago.

IMO I think AI heads are a great value, I have a set of 200cc heads right now and the machining and over all quality is very high.

From my understanding AI doesn't use HAAS, which is an entry level economical machining center compared to many other very high end machines out there and doesn't have a very powerful 5 axis product line like many other manufacturers do. A high end 5 axis machining center tooled up with fixtures is at least 300K if not more depending on work envelop and options. Not to mention the software used to develop a 5 axis program, as I highly doubt anyone is setting at that machine punching in M & G code by hand for a 5 axis program. Also consider the other equipment needed to do a quality valve job and other secondary operations on the head.

With the overhead of many pieces of quality equipment, a facility to work out of, R&D invested and employees I think they are a great value for the price.
