coolant where it shouldn't be I was rotating the engine from the crank earlier, and i saw coolant squirt out from the #7 cylinder, oh shit... so i pulled the plugs from driver side, and only the 7th cylinder had coolant, so much it poured in my face when i pulled the plug, yall think i need to pull the pass side plugs to? but im almost finished with the valve spring swap! thank god |
That don't sound good. Pull all the plugs out. Was your car smoking white from the exhaust? |
im doing a cam swap, so no starting, just hand turned! |
Where did the coolant EXACTLY come from? |
coolant coming from the cylinders/spark plugs sounds so me like its time for head gaskets. |
^ That's what I was thinking, you don't just get random coolant coming out of the spark plug holes. Were you planning on taking off the heads? |
time to do headgaskets, no - if - ands - buts- ors about it. |
+1 for head gaskets... you're a seriously lucky man you caught it at this point before it anything was damaged.:thumb: |
Compare the plug from #7 with another plug and see if there's a difference. A leaking HG in one cylinder will steam-clean the plug. |
well guys i pulled just the bolts from the top of the driver head, and then decided to just fix the crank snout and and be able to turn the motor from there, i was worried about droppin the valves in the comb chamber, so i went on doin the valve springs, and forgot about the head bolts, i guess allowing the coolant from the passages to get into that #7 cylinder, and voila... but i drained it, checked all the other ones, and now im continuing on with the install, only the intake remains to be put on, and the wiring harness reconnected... |
do yall think not having the steam pipe running from rear of heads is a bad thing, cause its not there... but drivability is great, and no overheating problems to report for now.. |
Are you forreal if so all your fluid is gone and that is the only reason its not leaking..guy stop driving the car and get a crossover tube.... |
Yeah please do not drive without a crossover tube, unless you like rebuilding your engine. |
how long have you been driving without the crossover tube?! |
I don't know what is going on right now. The bolts you pulled from the head, are you referring to head bolts or vlave cover bolts? I highly recommend you replace your headgaskets if coolant is getting in your cylinder(s) and also get a steam pipe. Jesus christ. |
the bolts from under the valve cover, holding the head to the engine! and i have driven the car several times and no problems whatsoever without the crossover tube! didn't even know it wasn't there until i pulled the intake! lol so its a bad thing? |
I bet some money your heads are warped...hope you like working on your car because it needs it now |
were you saying originally you were going to remove your heads and mid doing so changed your mind and new re applied them and now you tightened them back up? if so the head gaskets are probably shot as well as possible damage to the heads. and yes it it a bad thing it removes the steam out of the heads that is created due to our reverse cooling system. IIRC this can cause heat spots in the rear cylinders. Please at least tell me that when you did not reinstall the steam tube that you block the holes in the heads as well as the nipple on the radiator. If not i dont see how your car still has any coolant in it at all. And how in the hell is it not boiling its ass off without it if you didnt?????????????????????? |
