Yeah...I kinda figured you would have it back together before you read that. You were making quick work of it. I dropped an engine and k-member a few weeks back so I think I can come up with something while I've got easy access.

How many miles are on your short block now? Also....are you still on the stock TQ arm?

The car has 62k on it now, still running the factory torque arm.

Original drive line is still doing great after all these years.

Congrats man that's moving but damn, you might have to pm me how you got the car that light 2,900 lbs is ridiculous. If I could get down to 3,250 race-weight with out cutting up the car I would be very happy. I probably just dropped a 100lbs off the car with some recent changes now I have to find another 200.lol

Wow man seriously that's light no matter how you did it. I'm all ears unless it involves sawzaw or whole saw.

Joelster says your thinking about the shootout but damn man you would have to add 400lbs to make weight for the class. lol

No metal other than the rear seat brackets cut out.
I just figured light weight=less broken parts so every part I could, i lightened up.

I call bullshit on weighing that much without any extra metal cutout and being that light!

I had the exact same car with bone stock everything including the stock long block with a converter only on stock suspension. Slicks, stock tq arm and on prostars. Even stock manifolds to a custom y pipe to a flowmaster muffler then dumped b4 the axle. IT ran consistent slow *** 12.9s on motor only and on the the juice with 110 octane, stock pcm AND tune it ran 11.4s with a 1.5 short time.

I weighed everything off the car from the time it was stock to being torn down and it still was NO where near 2800lbs WITHOUT cutting out fender rails, all a/c and heat, aftermarket CM suspension, tube frame and the list goes on.

Well I don't know him but his times suggest that it's a very light car. I'm sure my car would go 10.40's at that weight.

Some of you guys just need to examine your cars better and choose your parts more carefully. Here's just a little sample of weights where there is a massive difference.

A UMI tubular k-member for LT1 cars= 33lbs
A PA Racing Chro-mo k-member for LT1= 20lbs

For cars with true duals right off of the header...

Hooker Super Comp mufflers = ~24lbs (2 of them)
Flowmaster aluminized 44's= ~14lbs (2 of them)

275/60/15 drag radials= ~38lbs (2 of them)
27x11.50x15 Hoosier QTP's= ~22lbs (2 of them)

Strange S60 with a posi= ~220lbs
Strange S60 with a spool= 185lbs

15x3.5 rim with a radial tire= 56lbs for the pair
15x3.5 rim with Moroso DS-2= 38lbs for the pair

These things add up to a 94lb weight difference right there.

I remember someone else...think it was Joelster...saying that he knew the car from when it was nearly new and that it was ALWAYS a freak as far as running better than the average LT1. Some cars are just ringers from the factory for no rhime or reason. Doesn't matter whether you believe that or not.
As far as the weight thing goes.....I've seen so many variations there it's crazy. I've seen cars that were stock weigh the same or less than some that had alot of stuff removed for racing....on the same day and the same scales. I can't explain it. My 61 Bel Air weighed 150 lbs. less than my daddy's 61 Impala. (3600 vs. 3750) Both were 2 door hardtops, SBC, TH350, same wheels/tires. The only trim difference between the cars are 2 extra tail lights on the Impala (which weigh less than 2# each) so whatever the difference had to be sound deadening between the uplevel Impala...plus who knows what. Currently it is all steel except for a bolt-on FG hood and front bumper...has an iron headed BBC/TH400/12 Bolt...stock frame and bolt on suspension....and it weighs 3,550 with my 190# in it. Alot of removing weight is attention to detail.

That chromoly k-member is damn light. I never did weigh my BMR. I'm sure it's comparable to UMI in weight.

But doesn't the PA require the use of the stock cast iron stands? And what do those weigh?

Don't know if you can see it but here is the scale at work. At the times the car is running now it works out to 100lbs = tenth. My friend weighs 60lbs less than me and when he drives it picks up .04.
