School me on EWP's...
 

Trying to figure out of the expense will be worth the upgrade on my new motor.
My first concern is how are they for DD duty?
What about wiring, are they plug and play or is splicing involved?
I read somewhere that you cant auto-x with an EWP?
and finally, what do you use to plug the timing cover with?

I know my timing chain choices are very limited if I stay with the OEM water pump drive..and going to a DR chain requires an EWP as there is no WP drive.

Don't let anyone tell you that EWPs are not reliable for a daily driver. Wired with good-quality connections and an LED warning system they are just fine and will last quite some time.

Wiring is pretty simple if you are handy with it. If not, there are a few companies that make EWP wiring kits.

EWPs (arguably) flow a bit less that the stocker at higher RPMs, so some people prefer the stocker for the added flow for the sustained higher RPMs of auto-x.

You can plug the hole in the timing cover with a freeze plug, welded plug, or JB Weld and a quarter. Pretty simple.

They are elec and the pump water....all kidding aside I have one in my car and it's a daily driver (meziere XD) no troubles and 3 years later.

First CSI pump lasted 4 1/2 years and 24k.

Joe..can you point me towards a company that does the wiring kits for EWP's...my wiring skills are severly lacking!

It was a pretty simple swap, with just a couple of minor hangups. The wiring was very easy with the kit that it came with.

painless wiring makes a nice kit. It's roughly $30 from summit IIRC.

Been running a CSI on mine for 6-7 yrs now, I've never had any problems with it, its still going strong. I have a manual switch for it and the fans to cool it down between runs at the track, a nice option with having an EWP.

I've had my Meziere for about 4 years. Daily'd the car for a long time in those 4 years. No problems whatsoever. Quiet operation. I throw in a bottle of water pump lubricant along with distilled water (which is what I use for coolant) wheneer I flush the system.
