Hard to start my car, in cold and hot conditions.
So it takes about 10 seconds for my car to start up. for the first second i turn the key it sounds like it's about to start, then it starts cranking like the icm is unplugged or something...then after about 10 seconds of cranking it'll start, but the rpm's will shoot up to about 2k, but will drop down back to normal idling after about a minute or two, and the K&N cold air intake i have starts to get really loud. the car drives okay but it kinda feels like i have a missfire. I don't get any codes. i changed the plugs and wires, changed the intake manifold gaskets along with the throttle body gasket about 2 months ago. any ideas? and my car goes through gas like crazy even under conservative driving conditions.

Stuck injector, or more likely, blown diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator. Follow the vacuum line that goes from the regulator to the intake and pull it off at the intake (pass. side, above the A/C vacuum valve line, behind the purge solenoid). If you've got fuel coming out that vacuum line at KOEO (key on engine off), replace the regulator. It's a little bit of a pain to get to if you have to replace it. Don't lose the o-ring on the fuel return line or the regulator body while you're swapping it.

it's like a vaccum sucking loud...i thought it was cause the rpm's going up to 2k, but then when its idling and i step on the gas up to 2k it doesn't get loud like how it does when i described it.

i still haven't tried to pull the vacuum line to test the diaphragm.
how do i test the tps? and would anyone happen to know where i can find a diagram for all of the grounds? i'm for sure getting a short circuit somewhere cause the fuse for my turn signals go out in less than a minute of replacing them.

sorry, should've kept everyone updated. but yeah i checked that vacuum line to the fpr and no gas came out so i dont think it's a blown diaphragm...but for the past few weeks i noticed that EVERYtime i would go to the gas station and pump fresh fuel i would have no hesitation in starting the car whatsoever on the initial start up after i've pumped. but if i drive for about 10 minutes and turn it off and try to start again it'll just crank and crank for a few seconds then start

Bringing up an old thread, but just if anyone was curious of what the problem was, it was the fuel pressure regulator...thanks for the input everyone. my car now starts up fine. hope this helps anyone else who might've had this trouble. oh and i forgot to mention that in the process of changing the fpr, i noticed that when i disassembled the intake elbow, that tube that connects underneath it had gasoline built up in it...i was wondering if the fpr could've had something to do with this?

Where'd you buy the regulator from and how much was it? Mine's startin to do the same thing where it cranks for a few seconds before actually starting :/
