Default Realistic Goals for Cam only car

Well picking up the 355 on Thursday and thinking about a cam only build with maybe lil machine work done to the heads maybe gasket match and a little porting and polishing. But whats a realistic number to get out of an LT1 Cam only car........looking for a cc306 type cam so just curious on what to expect out of the new motor

A custom grind is definitely the way to go.

And there is a huge difference between a cam-only and a heads/cam car. Sounds like you need to establish a budget anyway. What are you starting with too? Supporting mods? Etc.

Well the car now has all the simple bolts on like LT's cold air intake True duals 3.73's. and yeah i know that but Im wanting the money that i would spend on an LE package to go towards supporting mods like a stall and some suspension stuff.

low 12s are easy with a proper set up.... I would suggest getting 9in or 12 bolt with 3.70 or 4.10 gear so you dont have to tow your car back from the track(trust me lol).... you can hit low 12 with just a cam only car even a small custom grind....

No reason you couldn't have a low 12-second car with all of the proper mods and a custom cam setup PROPERLY.

What do you mean set up properly? Do you mean stall, valve springs, tune, gears, etc....?

I mean just that, set up properly. With the proper gearing, suspension, GOOD dyno-tune (not just a mail-order), matched valve springs, and (most importantly) nothing done half-assed. Not to mention having your goals talked over with someone who knows a thing or two about LT1s.

Garbage cam, terrible plans for the heads..

Do yourself a favor and dont touch the heads, have an experienced porting shop do the work.
