While I agree, and bet it's higher than that.....he is the one who proposed this class to begin with and has a strong running car....and is no stranger to the track. That tidbit of information might be the difference in winning or not.

Seriously though....IF I get to be there.....I don't expect or even hope to win. (Don't take that as sounding like I'm not competitive or don't think I'm capable!)
I would just be in it to go some rounds (hopefully more than one...lol) and have fun. Meet new friends. Help out where I could.....AND Hopefully not break anything. lol

Installed my UMI adjustable TQ arm with relocating transmission crossmember yesterday. It made the car ride worse....not sure I'm gonna leave it on, but it could easily be swapped on for an event. Who knows how much it helped? Only street tires and cold pavement so far.

It doesn't work out that way from my experience.

Deep stage if you can when you race someone heads up.

Shallow stage if you wanna get a good number (ET) for bragging rights/records/etc.

Suppose you could clone yourself and your car....and run the exact same pass.....cut the same light...everything. One of you shallow and the other deep. The deep stager would get there first because while the shallow staged one appears to have a worse light (remember we are talking equal true reactions to the green) because he had more rollout.....he had that much more track to cover before he got to the traps. He would have a slightly better on paper ET/MPH, but would still lose.

Think I explained that right....I'm tired. People correct me if I'm wrong.

yes but i will also be traveling faster every bit down the track then u because of the roll out. you cut a .200 light i cut a .400 light. you run a 12.4 but i run a 12.2 we would finish a dead tie. index pro .400 racing deep stage def would be an advantage. but true heads up racing it evens out. from what i have heard. i have 0 expirence on .400 pro trees.

But say I cut a .100 light and runs a 12.4 and you cut a .400 light and run a 12.2 I would win by a .100 because of the reaction time. you had the faster ET but I got to the line first

that is true. but that just meant u cut a very very good light. i am going to be testing both deep and shallow staging on a .400 pro tree this upcoming season. whichever i like best i will use.

Speaking of the tree, will autostart be on with courtesy staging rules or can we burn double bulbers down at the tree/staging duel etc?

If you take a car that consistently cuts 1.8 60-foots and you shallow stage it, it will be next to impossible to cut a light better than .500 on a .400 tree. The car simply doesn't move forward quickly enough to trip the beam. Once you get around a 1.5-1.6 second 60 foots, then you can shallow stage on a pro tree and cut some good rt's. Guys that are around the 2.0 60-foot range will really have to pay attention to how they stage, and do it consistently.

I predict lots of upsets in the eliminations by guys who are asleep at the tree.

The shootout has always been courtesy staging rules. Tony has been very firm on this in years past, no games or they can dq you.

Shallow will get you the best ET because you basically get a rolling start at the 1/4. When you are racing someone however, you have to be able to cross the starting line as quickly as possible to beat the other guy to the finish line.

I agree on the courtesy staging, it makes things simple for everyone and nobody gets to double bulb me!

whats that suppose to mean? you have an issue with the rules? please do tell. this thread is for that. and there has been ample oppurtinities to voice your opinions, just as every other potential racer of the class has.

I have been voicing my opinion since page 2, was ruled out on page 4, have seen it go from street stock for the avg Joe to purpose built high 11's@114. It's the LTX shootout, not the f-body shootout. No harm, just waiting for the rules like everyone else.
