I think this is excellent practice, and an extra measure of insurance. I always use re glyptal in the lifter valley too. Great stuff.

ok good news and bad news................

Good News: block is in great shape and ready to go......

Bad News: We had to hone .0025 off the walls to get them to clean up because of the wash down that happened when i first fired the motor and had the ECM problem......soooo....that will now give me a piston to wall of .007 which =

so....I'm talking with diamond to get a custom piston made to get it back together.....good thing is i can make more power in the piston....compression and gas porting.......working on the details now.......ill post up some pics of the block when i get it back.....

plus....there will be more power to be made in a bit tighter Piston to wall than before as well as having the break in procedure correct this time so the rings seat well..........even though my pockets hurt now i guess theres a silver lining ehhh :/

and on that note........anybody interested in a nice light set of pistons???? SRP Proseries......

well i got the block back from the machine shop......everything looks really good.....went with a 4.043 bore to clean everything up and I'm gonna send out my pistons to get pc9 and gold tbd coated to make up the difference.....got the block painted and also got the heads stripped and the crank mains measured and mocked up....heres some pics

the block after i painted and taped it up.....

here i mic'd the crank for size....all the journals checked out good....

this is where i transfered the crank dimension to the dial bore gauge and zero'd out the gauge....

bolted on the main cap and torqued it down to 80ft/lbs with ARP ultra torq...put the dial bore gauge in the main...

.003 clearance ......they all looked great...within .0002....

gotta keep in mind that the grooved upper shell goes in the block to align with the oil galley hole....the solid bearing is the lower shell that goes in the main cap

all the caps and bearings installed after checking all the clearances.....

the crank installed turns well and has a .006 thrust clearance

the heads stripped down and in their safest place.......on the motor!!! lol

more stuff comming tomorrow night.......
